I did a months' worth of research before purchasing a classical style guitar in a budget friendly price point. Written reviews, countless YouTube reviews on various manufacturers. I went with Ortega as all they make IS classical style guitars (unlike other manufacturers). The R121 has Playability right out of the box, came shipped in an awesome padded case, that on its own would probably retail conservatively at about $120. The guitar has Low action, easy playability, no hand fatigue, NO SHARP FRET EDGES. It sounds awesome! The spruce top is crisp and clean; it looks awesome too. A very well-made guitar, fast shipping. It was shipped inside the padded case (included) in a box, which was then inside a bigger shipping box. No issues with the way it was shipped. Will have to adjust the truss rod in a day or so when it settles into its new environment (SLIGHT fret buzz on low E, A & D strings open to fret 7) which is just a minor truss rod adjustment, (relief) but totally playable right out of the box. For the price, I feel it is a great buy. The only thing that was not clear before purchasing was that yes, the guitar is in fact designed in Germany but, this model is in fact made in the PR of China. Considering this a budget friendly model, that makes sense. It IS however, very well built.Honestly, China has been cranking out some pretty decent guitars, so it is not a deal breaker. I only mention that as the only info I could find online before purchase was that it was possibly manufactured in Germany. I did find other info indicating Ortega's higher-end guitars are made in either Spain and or Germany but nothing specific to the R121.Still, NOT a deal breaker AT ALL, the manufacturer definitely paid attention to detail and the Guitar is well made. All seams and Joints and Binding are solid, tailpiece is solid, the 12-hole bridge is Genuis. neck feels good, nice walnut fingerboard, it's EASY to play, the fret markers are on the side of the finger board, the Tuning pegs are alright, they are easy to turn, and the guitar stays in tune. For the price I can't really find a negative with anything.Ortega is cranking out very well-made budget friendly guitars, an intermediate classical player could easily make magic on this model. I have been playing in semi pro & pro working situations in a variety of electric guitar music styles for 40+ years. I started classical studies a few years in on the guitar, but I never kept at them consistently, as most classical style guitars I had owned left me frustrated with hand fatigue and were challenging to play, this guitar DEFINATELY will ensure that I will continue with my classical pursuits, so I am super happy and grateful to the Ortega guitar company for making a quality, economical instrument. Additionally, I will buy a humidifier to ensure it stays in good working order as I live in Tucson, Arizona. I give it an overall 5-star review. If you are looking for a budget friendly classical guitar THIS IS IT! I am super glad I went with the Ortega R121. Thank you Ortega & Thank You zZounds!
