"Good Stand-in Instrument for the Price."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Definitely would buy again.
Sound
It sounds great. I've been using it with a Fishman preamp and a Gaellian-Krueger and it responds great and provides a wide variety of sounds. It's marketed as a stand-in for an acoustic instrument, and I think it fits the Bill.
Features
The instrument came with a gig bag and a tripod. The gig bag looks of shoddy construction and feels like it might tear any time now. The tripod is poorly constructed as well. In fact, they don't even sell the same tripod separately, only a more expensive and probably better one. But free is free, so I guess they'll do for now.
Ease of Use
Really simple to play and adjust as needed. Problems in setting up tripod, which took a while at first.
Quality
The instrument itself looks pretty sturdy and is aesthetically pleasing as well.
Value
To get the same kind of sound on an acoustic it would cost many times as much. This is a good stand-in and a great value.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to contact the company about the product.
The Wow Factor
It's not exactly the coolest, but I'm not complaining.

"NS Design NXT 4 Upright"

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Overall this is a very well made and easy to play instrument. Would recommend it to electric players who want to add an upright as the learning curve is much easier than a true DB. Also the storage and transportation issues are much easier than a full DB at a lower price point. I bought this from zZounds about four months ago and was able to incorporate it into our Bluegrass act pretty easily.
Sound
I currently play in a Bluegrass ban and love the NS. I was using a Fender P bass and an Ibanez AEB but neither could really provide a traditional Bluegrass sound or feel. THE NS has the sustain and decay that is very close to a true DB.
Features
The fit and finish and quality of construction are very nice. The ebony fretboard is excellent. I have seen some reviews deriding the tripod but mine was sturdy and easy to use. My only compaint is that the tripod cannot be lowered enough to use in a seated position. For playing that is fine but after working all day it would be nice to sit down. I think I will either get a stool. I have also seen posts where players have fasioned a bracket to allow the NXT triopd to be used seated.
Ease of Use
The learning curve is much easier than a full DB. I have raised the bridge to get a deeper sound, which was very easy. The NXT 4 comes with NS Contemporary strings, which I found to be a bit thin, especially the D and G. I switched to NS Traditional strings and have been much happier.
Value
Certainly is better quality than an UB in this price range.
Manufacturer Support
None needed.
The Wow Factor
Every time I bring it out I get a ton of compliments. Very cool.
