"Maschine stands alone"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

The maschine plus is double the price of the maschine controller version the mk3 and there’sno return policy since it’s software based, so you better know what you’re getting into before you shell out $1500. With that being said; the maschine plus can be used in many different ways to support your workflow, I use it in a more unconventional fashion and feed the line outs into my audio interface and record directly in Ableton, so more as a synth, which also cuts back and / or adds additional computer resources. This was a great addition to my studio and workflow and way more flexible now as a stand-alone unit.

"Amazing product"

First and foremost, if you've been googling this thing you've probably come across some negative opinions. As a first time Maschine user, I'd wager those opinions are coming from people who have been using the Maschine software on their computer for awhile, and in comparison, the Maschine+ in standalone is quite limited compared to what you can do with an MK3 in a computer due to it only having 4gb of ram and the type of CPU that it has. In standalone mode you can't load 3rd party VST like you would in the computer software. Using Native Instruments VST and effects can eat huge chunks of your available CPU. So, my advice is in order to appreciate what standalone mode has to offer.. don't think of the Maschine+ in standalone as a a maschine you can take with you. Instead treat it like an audio sampler, that will play your samples with the maschine workflow. Today is day three of ownership. I've already sampled one drum kit from EZ Drummer 3 and it barely uses any CPU in standalone mode. I created a drum loop.. loaded one of the Native instrument synths, which would take a lot of CPU usage if I were to create a pattern with it. Instead I auto-sampled one note from that virtual instrument with 5 velocity layers, loaded that on a pad and put it in keyboard mode and poof I have synth keys that don't take a lot of CPU. So, it's still the awesome product we know and love in controller mode. In standalone, it is like the most intuitive and easiest sampler I've ever used, my VST drum kits sound awesome, and the Maschine+ in standalone mode is going to do a great job at handling my needs for looping bass, guitar, and vocals. What I did not expect, being a first time Maschine user, is just how even though I haven't yet scratched the surface of what this device can do regardless of standalone or controller mode, is how much in just a few days of ownership my productivity as a musician has increased, as it's so easy to just turn it on, get a beat started and looped, then add a chord progression that I can later write bass and guitar lines too, vocals etc. I love this thing more than words can express. Do not buy this thinking it's going to perform like an MK3 plugged into a computer in software mode. The workflow will be similar, but loading VST and effects will show its CPU/Ram limitations. Instead auto-sample your VST in the Maschine software on your computer, and then transfer your samples to your SD card. Standalone mode is freaking awesome once you start feeding it samples. On top of being a genuinely amazing production tool, it's also the best finger drumming experience I've ever had, though that is probably true with any version of the Maschine. IF this thing had a beefier CPU, more ram, and the ability to host 3rd party VST natively, that would be insanely sick. But the using samples created with the auto sampler does a pretty job of bridging the gap between standalone mode and using the maschine as a software controller.

"Great Standalone Groove Box"

I love the Machine Plus. It is cool to be able to pull away from the computer and take the machine plus somewhere and jam out ideas. The are many tutorials on youtube to get over the learning curve. I moved from the machine studio to the machine plus in October of 2020. I love it. I can go in the car, living room, bedroom, and to work and make some beats. Then, I can take those ideas and move them to the Maschine Software to add the bells and whistles. Here is my youtube video https://youtu.be/MaDOjQMUO3s. I love this machine.
Sound
If you love the Maschine sound and workflow you will love the Maschine Plus.
Features
The sounds are amazing, the pads feel great, and I love the editing and performance effects.
Ease of Use
Once you learn how to move sounds, the process becomes second nature. It is a simple as removing the sd-card.
Quality
This product is built like a tank.
Value
I believe this product is worth the price. Especially coming from a Maschine Studio. I have the MK# and more.
Manufacturer Support
I had an issue with my Maschine Plus connecting with the software and technical support worked with me. They were excellent.
The Wow Factor
The look and the build of the products made me want to purchase the Maschine Plus.

Brand new out the box. It had trouble connecting to WiFi. Finally got it to work. Loaded. Made 2 beats. Great. Third time I tried to use it it won’t cut on. Power button just flashes red. 2 days haven’t heard back from Native Instuments. Called zzounds to report the issue they say NO REFUND EVEN IF ITS DEFECTIVE. call native instruments. I’m pissed. Cause who purchases a $1500 anything that they can’t take back. Let alone something that isn’t working. I’m speechless to say the least. Now I have a $1500 paper weight that they expect a payment on .......

"Not good at intergration"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Bought this product to use as standalone and to integrate with the software on the computer and it’s been hell works in standalone fine but when trying to use with the software doesn’t work at all hardware just freezes, and then nothing I’m not sure if it’s bug issues or what but customer service has been zero help both through native instruments and zZounds and for the price Mann it’s not worth it and I’ve been a Native Instruments user for years

"I don't recommend buying this"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars

I've owned mine for about a week it's frozen and crashed at least eight times. it won't connect to machine and controller mode after spending a couple hours doing everything that the instructions say to do in order to get it to work. Overall the concept is amazing the three or four times it's worked well for me I've enjoyed it. But this thing is extremely glitchy and unreliable. the worst case scenario was when I had four samples loaded with zero effects and one instance of monarch. The audio cut out and it froze. I would highly recommend not buying this unit until they left no return policy because you're just going to throw 1500 away

"Maschine plus biggest POS"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

This is the most expensive paper weight i ever bought. Ordered from zZounds. Got it delivered within the first week the unit was defective kept freezing up and crashing called Native instruments who said they would send me a new one. Got the new one and that one won't boot up at all. zZounds won't refund because I opened the box and Native won't refund because it was bought from one of their vendors. So now I have a large paperweight that worked for almost 1 week. I will never buy a Native instruments equipment again. $1100 to use for 1 week and now nobody can return it. DONT BUY THIS POS.
