Moog Mavis Desktop Analog Synthesizer
Usable as a stand-alone synth or as part of a modular setup, the Moog Mavis is an easy-to-assemble DIY synth kit with a huge sound and tons of attitude.

Just recently purchased the Mavis and wow the thing has a lotta meat to the sound. I have a subsequent 37 and this thing is on par with that bass wise. It can get a wide range of tones but for bass sounds this thing sounds HUGE.

The Mavis is the most affordable way to purchase a brand new Moog synth, and it can provide some nice features to a small existing setup, but I don't think I would suggest it to anyone as their first beginner synthesizer.Using it in a small Eurorack setup it provides a lot of great features in one package, but I find that there are some connections missing that really would have made it much more useful... like direct patchpoints into the VCA and VCF. The VCO and filter are solid, they sound like a Moog. For someone looking for a 1st synth, I would recommend something with an actual keyboard though, because the built in keypad is not enjoyable to play. Someone with tiny hands might like it though.I did have a small issue that I had to take up with Moog customer service, and they were prompt to respond, and to fix the issue 100%. 10/10 for Moog customer service.I do use it quite a bit, and the sound is fine, but I probably wouldn't buy it again... I'd go with individual modules.... which I REALLY wish that zZounds would start carrying! (hint hint!)
