Mojave Audio MA-50 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

A killer first "pro" mic with the same capsule as Mojave's MA-200 in a transformerless design, the cardioid MA-50 stacks up against much more expensive mics.

I really enjoyed using this microphone- It provides a level of midrange detail that is worth much more than the asking price. It has plenty of cut and body, but is never harsh, too shiny, too thin, or too muddy. The vocals and acoustic guitar I tracked with it needed zero EQ to fit into the mix- the resulting product was very "done" sounding once it was tracked. I think it would work well on horns and drum overheads as well, and as a room mic. I think it's a great competitor to the Neumann TLM mics or AKG C414s at a much lower price. If you're looking to step up to a pro-level condenser, it's hard to go wrong with this one.
