"Great mixer, won't work if you have sierra already"

If you have MacOSX Sierra 10.12 or later updated already, the firmware will not load and serato will not recognize the DUO as a controller. When I questioned Mixars, their only response was, "use a different machine without Sierra." I'm sorry, but that's not very great tech support. In any case I found my own fix, without having to use a different machine (will work in windows as well according to Mixars, but have not tried it). FIX: I had to restore a previous OSX (10.11 El Capitan) which I updated to Sierra in October 2016, and just used an earlier backup. I restored it to El Capitan and everything worked as it should. There's a guide on Mixars Website to guide you through the process of updating the firmware. But according to them, you're 'up a creek' as it were, if you've already updated to Sierra. (Not so with this fix) Once that was complete, I updated back to Sierra and all was good. I will mention, however, what ever you've put on your computer after you updated to Sierra (and are able to use an earlier back up without Sierra) you will lose all that data. I hope this review helps someone else get their mixer to work with Serato. It's a really great mixer and the cue/sample pads are awesome (upgrading from an old Gemini Mixer)
Manufacturer Support
See my review, Mixars is lacking in the tech support dept. but the fix above worked without any glitches. I will mention, ZZOUNDS was more than willing to help and gave me numbers and emails for both Rane (Serato) and Mixars (email only because they're based in Italy). But eventually I had to figure out the issue on my own.

Solid mixer. Good entry level unit for the price. Lacks a few very important features, such as post-fader effects. I also feel that there isn't enough variation between the states of indicator lights, meaning that the off state & on state are too close, so you may not realize something (like effects) is selected.
