This is my 2nd Mesa Boogie. My first (still using it!) is a 1982 Mark II-B. Bought it direct from the factory and it's been my main amp ever since. I'll be 70 this year and really needed something not so loud and ungodly heavy, so, I got the California Tweed. Love it's portability, looks & sound, and the wattage control is a godsend! But, to my ear, the tone controls are very subtle. They don't seem to have the db gain of the Mark II-B. Not too big of a deal since the pedals I use help with the tone shaping. My complaint with the amp is the reverb unit. Barely turn it on and it's strong, 2 or 3 and it becomes total mud. Again, not a deal killer since I use a digital reverb on the pedal board. Buy for an amp this pricey, it really should have a better verb unit.

I own a Fender 65 PRRI, 57 Custom Champ and a Victoria 5112. I love Fender amplifier tones. I live a few miles from the Mesa factory in Petaluma, so I took a shot and ordered this from zZounds. It sounds amazing, looks like a work of art and with the multiple power levels, is a perfect home studio amplifier.
