"Good value and a nice instrument"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I had the opportunity to play this guitar at their booth at NAMM. This really stood out to me (among the ten million other guitar makes there!) as a very well made guitar. The sound quality was great -- good projection, a nice round tone, and a perfect set-up. I do not own one...Yet. I can't speak to long-term reliability, but the build quality was way beyond what the price would suggest. I didn't play it plugged in so I don't know about the amped sound, but it's a fishman system that I've heard on other guitars. Frankly, seeing that they're now carried by Zzounds gives me even more confidence, assuming they don't just sell any new brand that comes down the pike. Now I just need to pick my flavor!

"T25 Classical "

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

The Merida T25 Classical was a terrific surprise. I had been to several stores trying many classical guitars and was about to purchase another popular brand. I had been reading online reviews of other classical players whom had recently purchased or experienced a Merida guitar, so I decided to find a local dealer that had a couple in stock. I sat down and was amazed at what a heard. The sound was so much more vibrant than anything else I had played to date. The workmanship and attention to detail is amazing. Even my wife hears the difference! I have several much more expensive guitars, but don’t like to risk traveling with them. I’m almost embarrassed to say that the sound and playability from this Merida is almost as good as my two customs…for which I paid thousands more for! Bravo Merida, keep up the good work! I was shocked & excited to see them here on zZounds!!

"Build Quality was Terrible"

i had ordered a Merida Trajan T25 classical based on the sparse but good reviews I've read on the product, and, being advertised as an all solid wood handcrafted instrument for under $800, i figured this would be one bang-for-the-buck deal. I received the instrument promptly (2 days, free ground) and opened her up. It was like Christmas morning... except the disappointment that washed over me when I first produced the headstock from the packaging. The finish that they use on the headstock was terrible. it was hazy for some reason, and the rosewood plate looked very dry. i figured whatever, i have linseed oil... so i pulled he rest of the instrument out and tuned her up and gave her a whirl. she was certainly a nice player. The action and neck were very nice, and the tone was great. Nice, warm, and responsive due to the cedar. Standard issue solid cedar/solid mahogany combo tone. At that point i was like OK, i guess I'll still keep the instruments; no big deal. That was until i moved to an area with better lighting and it dawned on me just how much they cut corners in the production of this instrument. The glue seams were very messy. You could especially notice it on the kerfing and the bridge. The neck didn't look like a good fit. There was a small gap between the fretboard and the soundboard on the bass side. It was very unsightly. the finish over it was cracked up and it just wasn't the sort of thing i expected from a an instrument that costs almost $800. Even my entry level Ibanez is built with more care than that. It was at that point I decided I couldn't keep this instrument. Such a shame too, because the wood looks great. Very attractive grain and color. I returned the instrument and bought a Cordoba Luthier C10 SP/IN. Definitely a much better crafted instrument. It's like night and day. Plus it turns out I was looking more for that spruce/rosewood tone, so I guess it all works out. Step up your game, Merida. You guys have so much potential. Don't flush it down the toilet with shoddy craftsmanship.
