I read a ton reviews and watched a ton of videos on this snare drum and I was shocked that nobody mentioned the wonderful box and black velour drum cover that this drum arrives in. I absolutely love the Mapex snare drum rims that make the drum sing, and when you hit a rim shot, you don’t have to hit it as hard as you normally do. I tried this drum at low and medium tension and was happy until I cranked it up to medium high and then I pretty much couldn’t stop playing this outstanding snare drum except to take a break to leave a review. The drum looks amazing, the packaging is better than any drum I’ve ever purchased and I’ve owned a lot of different drums and most importantly the sound is outstanding. The snare throw off is so smooth. If you’re familiar with the Omar Hakim signature snare drum, this reminds me of it, but with way more depth and character. I tend to play a lot of progressive rock, progressive, jazz, standard jazz, blues, and 80s rock and this snare drum is absolutely perfect.
