First thing I noticed was of course the quality of build. Beautiful, right out of the box, you just knew they would sound good. Like a quality sports car or new jet fighter, you knew right away...these babies are going to sound good. And, after setting them up, which was a snap, they lived up to my every expectation. The highs and mids were crystal clear with a wide field and plenty of depth. The lows were punchy and not at all muddy. Because the drivers are 6.5' they need a little volume or maybe just a little break in time will help. Volume is not a problem and I can listen to them for hours with no fatigue. Best of all, they translate well. Perfect for a small home studio and should result in professional results. I Recommend good stands and isolation pads and because of the rear ports separation from walls and corners. There are adequate adjustments on the rear to adjust for acoustics but I found them unnecessary with the exception of a slight volume difference. With all the competition in this range of monitors, Mackie has, in my opinion, out done them all with this one.
