"Perfect for our needs"

I am the sound designer for a private elementary school in Chicago. A couple of years ago, we were faced with running out of channels on our Mackie VLZ 16 system for the middle school musical. In addition, we were looking for a solution to a common problem. Since the VLX was on a shelf in the audio rack on a stage (gymatorium) that is used regularly for spectator seating for sports, it was common to need to re-center the mixer (EQ and faders) any time we needed to use the sound system.
With the DL32R, we now have a robust, repeatable system that the facilities staff can use without extensive training, and which is impervious to manipulation by students--or anyone for that matter. The DL gave us the headroom we needed for musicals (we're up to 24 inputs), soft patching for speaker selection, backstage monitoring (we never had it before), and the ability to provide custom feeds for things like video production. In addition, for stage production, we've eliminated the 16x4 snake we used to drag around the stage wall.
