love the amp and the 1/2 setting for in my home jaming . 1/2 watt 30w and 60 watt setting is nice. also the 12 inch catalyst speak has great sound and it is loud at 60 watts,it is loud at 1/2 watt in the house lol . ease of use i dropped . for the simple fact to get to the effects in the amp. you need a PC or lap top. 38 lbs it is very portable and well built. i recommend it. i am really impressed with its over all functions. foot pedal is a great idea. i did add it. change channels or effects on or off.

I've had this amp for 1 month now. 8 Gigs with it. Great amp! Ialso bought the footswitch. Sounds wonderful. Light weight and powerful. Makes me play more and dance on pedals less! Keep it simple, clean channel with chorus add in, and drive channel with flanger add in. Boom, get to playin'Lots of band mates have complimented me on this amp.

I love the HX effects. I already own an HX fx stomp. The amp in feature makes this amplifier perfect as it is appropriately neutral and simply allows the external modeling to shine through. I also use a Tech 21 flyrig and get equally good results. If you like, it is also easy to set up a clean tone with reverb and delay directly from the amp and a good driven tone from channel 2. This works when you just want a grab n play jamming solution.Add in the power scaling and this amp easily competes with amps that are made as modeling platforms like the Tech 21 powered speaker et al.For me the power amp in mode is superior for a very low price. I even like the Line 6 speaker...I have a 90 watt Celestion alnico Cream speaker and a 65 watt Celestion ceramic 12-65 and the stock speaker holds its own against these designs. This amp can be potentially confusing in solo usage but paired with any modeling it shines.

....until I discovered that I was playing with the noise gate. Why on earth did they enable it as default? I sensed that underneath that horrible tone in my horrible playing, was a magical zzound! I accidently stumbled upon it in the manual and tried enabling and then disabling it. I didn't know I wanted it disabled. But I did that and the absolute sweetest, magical tones emanated from the amp, tones I remember from the original Spyder amps. Buy this. Instant karma gonna git ya.

I like a lot of Line 6 products and I think the Catalyst is a cool little amp with some cool features but it’s not a very versatile amp in my opinion. I don’t know if it’s the Blackouts I have in my guitar or the speaker that comes with it but I can’t get a high treble digital fuzz sound to go away in the Crunch/Dynamic/High Gain channels. Crunch/Dynamic has very very low gain and you can increase it with the boost knob but it sounds like you have a wah pedal constantly turned on. The downloadable software is really nice because you can go and adjust sag, bias, bias x, noise gate, which cab sim/ mic you want to use for the XLR/ Headphones, fine tune the effects and reverb but plan on spending hours to get that sound you want and I still couldn’t get that treble digital fuzz sound to go away using it. I really like the onboard effects and reverb but you can only use one of the onboard effect at a time. So if you wanted use some Chorus or Flange with a Pitch Shift you wont be able to do that even of you use the download software. The XLR D.I. sound really good through a mixer it actually sound better than stand alone amp. The Clean, boutique, and. Chime channels sound really awesome through the amp. The 60/30/0.5 w switch is really cool but the amp doesn sound the same in every setting like they advertised. Overall it has some good features and would be a great amp for a beginner because you can kick up to 60w when your playing in the garage or 0.5 w when your in the bedroom. If would also be a good direct amp because you can switch it to mute and run it through the PA but if you are going to do that I would buy a Helix. If you’re looking to get a low cost amp modeling amp and trying to make it sound like a Marshall, Mesa, Orange or whatever amp brand you like it won’t be able to do that with it.
