"✩ Rich Sound - Serious Gear ✩"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The only reason I might replace this in the future would be discovering a need for more inputs. My production method is pretty simple, so I don't see that happening, but you never know...
Sound
This is audiophile quality. The depth and richness is a real pleasure to hear. I have been using an ESI Prodigy 7.1 HiFi soundcard in my workstation. It sounds incredibly beautiful, detailed, but alas the Prodigy picks up some odd noises while desktop recording. I had the Lexicon U22 suggested to me by a sound producer and instructor. The U22 took a few listens to notice that the sound is subtly warmer, as if there is a tube inside. Which there isn't. It's very subtle. Overall it reproduces every note equally. No note seems more forward than the other. I use it with a Rode NT1-A condenser mic and a 1964 Yamaha acoustic guitar. The sound reproduction just makes me smile. For under $300 the sound is incredible. Well, actually, the sound is pretty incredible regardless of the price. I am mangling the sound of my guitar with Ableton Live controlled by an Akai MPK25. My eyes water at how perfect the combination is. Love it.
Ease of Use
I run Windows 7 64 bit. The installation cd doesn't have those drivers on it. Very easy to find and download from the Lexicon website. The driver install program looks nice. You get to watch a Matrix like image of data streaming while you wait! ;) All the inputs are clearly labelled, wires can be routed underneath and forward, the led metering is sweet to look at, everything feels solid, it's a classy looking piece of kit. Once the drivers installed it worked immediately.
Quality
Solidly built. Everything is tight. Made by people serious about their gear for people who want serious gear.
Value
I don't think there is a better USB 2.0, 24 bit 96khz desktop recording device on the market. This is the best I could get for the price point.
Manufacturer Support
No need to contact the company. No score here.
The Wow Factor
It's a beautiful object to have on my desk. I like that the finishes are mat. Love that it is tilted.

"Does not work at all with Snow Leopard."

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If they don't come out with drivers within the next month, I'm going to be pawning it off on E-bay and buying someone who actually does know about impending operating system releases and cares to keep the customers informed of their progress on drivers.
Sound
Sound quality is great.
Features
Has everything one would expect in a basic USB digital audio interface. The form factor was the main reason I got it.
Ease of Use
Very easy to setup and learn how to use.
Quality
As well made as plastic can be.
Value
Since I can't use it anymore, it has zero value.
Manufacturer Support
Here's where the product fails. It doesn't work with Snow Leopard! E-mail "support" from Lexicon support staff simply states that unfortunately, there are no drivers for 10.6. That's it?! Not even a statement of whether they're working on it or an ETA on when drivers will come out?? It doesn't even say "at this time"! Seriously?? This is a new product that just came out this year and now it's 2 lb paperweight on my desk. I don't even have assurances that this MIGHT change in the near OR far future. This does not speak well of Lexicon's support.
The Wow Factor
Sexy, but what's the use if I can't record or play audio?
