This is an incredible value for what you you are getting. I’ve had many tube amplifiers and every now and then I go for one of these solid-state amps. My last one was the orange super crush 100. This Laney is way better. No fizz whatsoever. It’s a very smooth overdrive if you want it to be. But then kick on the boost for a little more bite and you’re in brown sound territory. I use the amplifier for lower gain tones. But it is definitely capable of metal tones. It’s great for blues, classic rock and country. Which is what I’m using it for. I ended up getting the 212 version. Sounds huge at any volume. And the effects are great. Reverb and tremolo are basically the only effects that I use. So having them on board is fantastic. The chorus sounds very cool. Almost like a flanger effect if you set the rate a little bit higher. Very cool amplifier if you’re looking for something solid state.
