"Not bad..."
It's a very cool machine it mess around with. Sounds good. It's small. It sucks that it has to use smart media cards, so plan on buying a better one than the 16 mb card it comes with.
And your better off doing the final mixdown on the computer with a nice program like Pro Tools, or Cool Edit Pro or something along those lines. So if you don't know how to use any programs then you should learn it.
Sound
The sound is very good for it's price range. I was really surprised on how well the interal mic worked. The interal mic is pretty good for recording acoustic seasons, ideas, live events, and jam seasons. Just remember sense it is a interal mac, you move the recorder, push any buttons or anything like that while it's recording it will endup in your recording.
Features
It has a lot of effects and all, which are cool but I doubt I'm really going to use the onboard effects sense I like to do the final mixdown on my PC.
The reason I'm giving it a 7 is cause it would be great if it record two line-ins at a time; inside it does one. There's also no lo-z input, but I knew that when I bought it.
I like the USB feature. It allows you to transfor all the tracks in .mp2 format onto your computer for backup, mixdowns, editting, ect...
It can run on batterys and fit in the palm of your hand.
It also has some preset drum tracks that are fun to jam with. You can setup a click track and all that stuff if you like to use that too...
Quality
The highest it can record is 192 kbps 32 khz which a little bit of a downside. However, it's really not that noticable.
Value
It seems to be made very well... it is very small.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't messed with them
The Wow Factor
Very cool for recording ideas and such, so I'd want one around for at least that. It would still be very nice if it could record two line-ins at the same time...

"A great little recorder for beginning studio work."

I will probably keep this unit for a long time . The next recorder I get will be an 8 or 10 track with a built in cd burner. The most difficult part is trying to convert mp2 tracks into mp3 and burn to cd. A stand allone cd burner would be a plus.
Sound
Great little recorder and easy to use
Quality
Just don't drop it.
The Wow Factor
You can even use it to record back tracks to cary allong with you to gigs.

If your on the road, this is the best portable recording device out there. Great feature, good quality, and just fun to use.
Sound
Great sound for a portable device. Its not the best and the mic is not as good as my condenser, but what built in mic is?
Features
tons of features for a portable recorder...drum tracks, tuners, built in microphone, USB output, 3 diffeerent recording qualities, need I say more...
Musical Style:
classic rock

"Good when it came out but aging very very poorly and horribly supported"
Verified Customer

Sound
When I rec'd this as a gift over 2 years ago I thought it was absolutely great for a portable 4 track. The built in mic is amazingly good and the sliders are just large enough to be truly usable. The "modes" this thing goes into can have some nice effects but you'd never do it on this surface...
Features
In the time since this was introduced, MPEG has moved forward a generation and this box is stuck in MPEG2 land, which was NEVER a good format. It makes huge files, sounds worse than MPEG3 and this is a serious black eye against this machine. You will have to convert everything you record on it and what's worse, if you sample something elsewhere and want take this on the road to work on it, you can't -- NOTHING records in mp2 anymore and nobody in their right mind converts from mp3 to mp2. This has become a major diffculty point for me and eventually the machine itself will force me to stop using it.
Does not include any hardware, power adapter or USB cable or anything else that are advertised features of this thing. The 16MB memory card is worthless -- just plan on springing for 128mb or larger. Other than that, it seemed full featured. The drum machine is a nice bonus although they are the worst canned drums I've ever heard (I use it when forced to because I can't stand metronomes...)
Quality
This machine has survived some falls and one gig LOL
Value
The mp2 thing makes it decrease in value every single day. The inability to load drums is a major negative in these days of swap and play technology and computer-based recording.
Manufacturer Support
Those Korg folks must be ashamed of something. Just try to go to their website and find out anything. Try to find a contact or a FAQ or anything. Worst I've ever seen in websites. Their support is SO bad in fact that (as active Korg product owners out there already know), private citizens have had to set up Korg forums and FAQs to help other Korg owners. And they STILL get no support from Korg.

"why not?"

i have a small DAW based studio and this won't replace it but it is so cool to be able to sit on the porch and get some very respectable sounds. i think the UI is an excellent blend of plug and play and deep editing.
Sound
much better than expected. i wanted a small pedal (like alesis guitarfx) for practicing outside of my home studio and found a demo unit PXR4 for $149 so i thought "why not?" the sound from this little box is pretty sweet through small phones and competent through my M-audio Studiophile monitors. i have bass & guitar pods and i'm not going to throw them away but this has many play-able sounds for guitar and bass--again, much better than i was expecting. the presets are exceptionally playable--not the usual collection of looky-what-i-can-do crap you get from a lot of presets (digitech rp3.) the acoustic simulator is a pleasant surprise. the drum sounds are good enough and the patterns aren't bad maybe better than those on my SR-16. i haven't tried the mic for acoustics. i've only tried mid-quality recording and i'm not complaining. took me awhile to get comfortable with the gain structure but i think it's handled very well--pre & post peak metering is another bonus (no "clip" led, real meters.)
Features
i guess i'm not comparing it to anything but it has everything that i would want to carry around with me. the thing is small and i like that. the inputs are exactly what i need although maybe a mini expression pedal &/or punch pedal would be usefull. even at full price i think it's a good value.
Quality
mine was a demo unit at GC and it's got a booboo but the pots, sliders and buttons feel & work well. i'd prefer a metal case mainly because it's not heavy enough so a guitar cable can bring it down pretty easily.
Value
i'd pay full price if i had to.
The Wow Factor
i honestly didn't know what it was but now that i have it i'd say, had i known, i would have wanted it pretty bad--i think this is something a person might "settle for" because you don't want to shell out for one of the larger all-in-one units but, depending on your skill level and what you really want to do with it, you might be satisfied with this for a long time.

"it was ok in its day"
Sound
this does sound digital. and if not using best recording quality ( even then ) sounds a bit compressed.
Features
good bass and guitar sounds but not great. lack of digital line out was a big disappointment ( most others have them eg. boss)
Quality
doesnt feel like the the most solid of constructions. had hassle with one of the faders-
Value
had no contact whatsoever with them, so i cant say
The Wow Factor
its cool, and folk always seems impressed when they see it, but probably better off getting a computer and recording with that.
