No need to look at other products. I plan on using this one for many, many years to come. Buy one for yourself and you'll see why this is simply the best recorder on the market today in this price range. 16/24 bit recording, 32 tracks, effects galore, awesome editing power, large touch view screen, 100 mm touch sensatative motorized faders, uncompressed recording... need I say more?!
Sound
Sounds fantastic. Reproduces exactly what you put in. Uncompressed recording bliss. Even 16 bit sounds great.
Features
Has tons of awesome effects and editing capabilities. Touch view screen is a great feature and BIG. No need for a mouse and monitor hook up.
Quality
It's made very well. Built rugged and strong. A very road worthy machine that will last for a very long, long time. No worries here!
Manufacturer Support
Excellent!

"The Korg D32XD Kicks ASS!! Best DAW For The MONEY!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This is it... No plans on getting anything else in a DAW. Just some more mics, instruments and things of that nature... What do I like most? Everything! Least? What's not to like here...
Sound
Excellent uncompressed sound quality @ 16 and 24 bit. What you put in is what you get out! Crisp, clear...very clean! It is very compatible with other equipment in my studio and the FX in this thing are INCREDIBLE!!
Features
Just the usual accessories... power supply, manual, etc... Excellent features and very user friendly. Haven't found anything that isn't useful about this product yet. Everything is very intuitive with a well thought out design! Very Pro indeed! I like its size... lots of space... feels like a your behind a real desk. Faders are not crammed together like on some DAWS. Wish it came with VGA monitor out but none-the-less a great DAW with Pro features.
Quality
It's made extremely well... very rugged. No scratches or blemishes. Definitely road-worthy but a little big to cart around... can be done though. Weighs approx. 40 lbs.
Value
It's worth every penny and then some. Best DAW out there in this price range. I mean 32 tracks of uncompressed recording, great features and FX are SUPERB!!!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed to use support but Korg is on it. Always updating their OS for their products, they offer free downloads and they listen to customer comments.
The Wow Factor
A very nice looking unit both in appearance and color... Feels very sturdy... It is the center of my home studio.

"The best DAW out there."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
What you put into get, you get out of it. Good DACs for such a low price.
Features
Features are professional grade. Good Routing, easy transport between PC/MAC based systems through USB connection. The best DAW currently available.
Quality
So far, everything works, nothing loose.
Value
Best for the price
Manufacturer Support
Have not dealt with company
The Wow Factor
Very impressed overall, was alittle concerned about the company at first, (thought a Roland would be safer) but they did pulled it off the features none of the other DAWs have.

"Good recorder for the home studio!"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll keep the D32XD as a back up machine but I've recently placed an order for the Akai DPS24 MKII to use as my main rig. Unfortunately it'll be a wait but well worth it. The specs on the DPS24 MKII are incredible!!
Sound
The sound quality is good. It's clean and transparent but also a bit cold which is true of most digital recorders. I thought the analog compressors would help warm it up some but not so. In comparison to other digital recorders I've owned it seems to lack the depth and punch I was looking for. It's only a 16 bit machine at full 32 track count. What's up with that anyway... Korg, 24 bit is the industry standard and has been for quite some time now.
Features
Everything with this machine is an option! ADAT (expandable to 8 channels only) costs extra. The extra input board is another option if you need to record more than 8 tracks at once. The extra compressor board costs extra. If you buy the optional accessories you're looking at almost $4K. Come on Korg... at these prices at least the ADAT and 12 tracks of simultaneous recording should come standard. The effects are excellent and the automation is a dream. One word of caution with this machine. If you do a lot of punches during tracking beware that this is the worst feature on this machine. It's a cue mix set up and it blows. Why Korg designed this thing to punch in/out the way it does is beyond me and apparently others too. No on-board mono switch to check your mixes.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use. USB-1 makes it possible to transfer your files to a PC but the process is sloooooow. No VGA and/or mouse support. Optical only for digital out unless you buy the add-on ADAT board. Limited connectivity to other gear.
Quality
It is built well and the user interface is a breeze within the unit. Very reliable so far... It's rather big to take on the road but with a good case it's possible.
Value
Like I said above some of the things Korg sells as accessories should be included as stock items with the unit. Other manaufacturers are doing it so why can't Korg? and only 16 bit?!! Industry standard is 24 bit Korg.
Manufacturer Support
Neutral.
The Wow Factor
Looks nice. Sleek design and lots of room.

"Nice Looking Machine!"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Good.
Features
Very nice.
Quality
It's built extremely well but the screen is very hard to read. Everything is crammed together and is tiresome on the eyes! Korg should've included a monitor hook up with mouse for this unit.
Value
All in all this is a great machine for the home studio and for the price. As nice as it is it's only 24 bit at 16 tracks. What are you thinking Korg?!! The industry standard is now 24 bit, so how about designing your next machine to include more tracks in 24 bit?!
Manufacturer Support
Never dealt with them.

"Superb Machine!! Buy It!!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I'm very happy and have no plans to buy anything else for a very long time. I researched just about every piece of recording gear avaialble on the market today in this price range and found this unit offered the best value for my money.
Sound
Crystal clear sound and great pres for being stock. Definitely records/reproduces the source exactly. A friend of mine owns a top of the line pro studio with gear that costs thousands and thousands of dollars. We work together quite often. He could not believe the quality of the recordings coming off this machine.
Features
This unit has awesome features but the built-in drums I can do without.
Quality
This is one tough, rugged machine. The housing is made of metal and the touch screen is to die for. The only weakness is the laptop style cd tray. Just be careful and support the bottom when putting a disc in and all will be okay.
Value
Great value overall. For everything you get you just can't beat it.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't ever needed support but I've heard they are A-1 and really have it together!
The Wow Factor
Excellent design with great features.

"Sound is everything, I did not get it with the Extedned Definition!"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
For the price range of this machine, there is no excuse for the sound this machine produces. As I said before I am no expert at this machine, and I never will be. I am replacing the DX today with a machine that makes up for it's price with quality. Over all, being willing to put out the kind of money I did for this machine, I expected it to be compete with studio production. "This machine simply dosen't get the job done".
Sound
this was a bad experience. I owned a pocket studio 5, and I thought buying the 32 track XD recorder from korg would give me a better more professional sound. I was wrong. The sound is, for the price honestly, horrible. I may not be an expert at mixing this board but obviosly,if the demo tracks that the professionals made sound like crap, this machine isn't all that great. This is brutal honesty, not bashing. After using the "XD" to make a few tracks, I went back to using my four track pocket studio 5 to back up the songs I made because I could not distinguish one sound from another on the XD (well for the price that this machine is asking anyway).
Features
The fetures on this machine greatly contrast the sound quality. I love the features on this machine alot of the things I had always wanted are on this machine; however, for the price asked most other machines have the same features. The greatest advantage that the XD has over the competition is avalible tracks. But as I stated above, tracks are nothing without dedicated sound quality. These tracks just end up being too much of a bad thing.
Quality
The machine is very sturdy and well made.
Value
The DX has extra Tracks, but after using this workstation I would settle for a workstation with less tracks, if the sound quality matches the price.
Manufacturer Support
Nutral.
The Wow Factor

"Can't Touch This!!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sound
Wow!! There are a few posts here about the D32XD from people who are obviously MORONS with no recording experience at all!! I had the chance to work with one of these machines recently on a project that lasted approx. 3 months... First of all the finished product we produced sounds as good if not better than commercial Cds. Secondly this machine was run hard and long with few breaks in between and performed flawlessy!! The sound was so good we took the product from start to finish without having to use any other equipment. The only exception to this was when we sent the master cd to be mastered which is what all major labels do once they're done with the multi track project. The pres on this unit are exceptional and the effects are of great quality. The user interface is well thought out and very intuitive. The unit itself is made of brushed aluminum and is built extremely well! It's big and has lots of room to work around on not like most other DAWS out today where everything is small and crammed together! So to the idiots that posted those stupid negative reviews, there isn't a better DAW out there for the money at this time. As far as bits and sample rates go 99% of you are only going by what you've either read or heard and wouldn't know the difference anyway! This is a fantastic recorder with all the right tools to take your projects to pro levels. So, I say to all new buyers ignore these morons because they are obviously wishing they had one of these.
The Wow Factor
I'm buying one for my studio.

"OWN THIS!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
C'mon! I don't get emotional over devices but I can't tell you how it's brought me tears of joy. The screen is a wee bit small but if you aren't used to looking at 15 inchers then it's not a problem. If you're into standalones because they offer more security as far as crashes and such goes... The CD is a little flimsy but if your mind's not altered and stay conscious and cautious then you're fine. I'm still learning the curve but all in all I'm thrilled that I OWN this thing!
Sound
Gives you a lot of freedom. Lotta room to move. With all the effects buildt in, you can do quite a bit without peripherals(sp).
Features
Not a perfect score because it can't have everything but what it does contain... Wish you can splish and splash more with the effects but I can't tell you how much it's capable of on its own.
Quality
My eyes welled up when I saw this thing! I was enlightened when I turned it on. It's soooooooooo purdy! And it's got substance to boot!
Value
I got break on this device and I've been blessed! I feel you get what you pay for if not a tad bit more!
Manufacturer Support
Dunno, have yet to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
If I were to lose this thing now, I'd cry and bury it and replace it with one just like it. Don't plan on switching over to nothing or anything else any time soon. DAW is where it's at!

"The Korg D32XD = The TRUTH!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I did extensive research on digital recorders for almost a year before deciding to buy this one. I knew that I did not want to go the computer route. (I had to many nightmarish experiences) I know several people that have the Roland VS series recorders and I can't lie...they sound good too but I had to have more tracks...24 was not enough. The fact that I don't have a VGA output is but a small price to pay for all that I got in return. Other than maybe a tube preamp and an effects unit I don't believe that I will need anything else to put out quality music. I actually SELL my CD's so quality is VERY important to me...
Sound
The sound quality on this product is excellent! What you put in is what you get out...EXACTLY...whoever said that the sound quality was poor on this machine must have been using a coffee can and string for a microphone. My manager came over to check it out, he listened to the demo songs and said..."you'll never be able to get that quality when you record on it". I am happy to report, He was DEAD WRONG! The machine sounds as good as ANYTHING on the market.
Features
The features are good. I wish that there were a few more effects presets to play with maybe some stuff for voice effects but I am still pleased. The editing is good too. Just wish you could choose which tracks you wanted to edit simultaneously instead of having to select predetermined groups or numbers of tracks. The touchscreen makes the whole process a lot less tedious, so I am very happy overall.
Quality
The only reason I did not give it a 10 is because of the somewhat flemsy cd drive. It is your basic laptop style drive... Don't be rough with it or it WILL break. Everything else on the machine is solid. I don't forsee any problems
Value
I can't state what I got my unit for, but let's just say I got one Hell of a deal. For what it does, I almost feel like I stole it...Shhhhhh don't tell anyone.
Manufacturer Support
Well, I have not dealt with them DIRECTLY but I mentioned on a website that my machine was not shipped with the upgraded OS. Someone fowarded my post to a Korg rep who E-Mailed me the next day. He agreed to send me the disk free of charge. I gave him my address, three days later I had the upgrade... OUTSTANDING!!!
The Wow Factor
When I opened the box it brought a tear to my eye...This thing is much more beautiful than it ever appeared in pictures or in the store...Gotta take some pictures of my studio now!

Sound
Sound quality is excellent! Both 16 & 24 bit resolutions are clean and without data compression.
Features
16 input recording is a huge plus for me. Effects are astounding, analog compressors kick butt!!
Quality
Built like a tank... made out of metal.
Value

Hey, I'm not making a living with my music, but this machine is more than I will ever need, and if I need to produce my own CD, this machine will augment my music abilities more than detract from them, and that is all I could ask for.
Sound
I found if you take the time to learn the equipment, the results are better than any recorder for the same price.
Features
The expression input is a great feature for using the guitar effects. The most impressive feature is the analog compression on the inputs. Clean punch. The operating system upgrades are great! The added features such as the increased available recording at 96khz,added functionality of the knobs are great, and the cost of the upgrades is zero! I downloaded the upgrades and upgraded from 1.0 to 2.01 in 10 minutes!
Quality
I have had the recorder about 4 months and have not had a single problem.
Value
I fretted and studied before I purchased it and have no regrets on the bang for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to contact them for support, but they have a couple of engineers that have a Web site dedicated to the Korg recorders with excellent tips and a large user group. Check it out a Korgstudio.com
