I just sold my 18" powered sub because I wasn't happy with the performance, won't call any names but it would clip very easily at 12 o'clock setting so I was always backing down level while playing gigs. I was for a long time contemplating between going back to passive subs or switching to another powered brand, as I needed a sub that would perform with consistency and depth. I matched this sub up with my PRX715 tops. The low bass output performs with precision and follows through every time low frequency is required. This speaker reaches down low to 30Hz. It never backs off or clips when driven harder.
Sound
Sound quality is very important and the PRX-XLF makes the grade. I would recommend to anyone using active/powered speakers to invest into a dbx Driverack as it completely enhances quality by providing a cleaner sound and protects your speakers from over gaining if being used by other DJs who have no idea about good sound quality.
Features
Sub has high pass filter if setup is routed through sub to main tops. It accepts both 1/4 and XLR inputs from one connector (XLR recommended).
Quality
Durable quality textured finish for SGL (Sound Guy Life).
Value
Compared to going passive route, two powered subs are equivalent in pricing for pro grade amplifier and speakers. The advantage is that you don't have to lug around additional equipment with amp rack at the end of the night/early morning. Also no need to find clean power for an amplifier that requires 20 amp circuit which is almost never available at most venues.
The Wow Factor
Has a sleek and sexy look to it. Don't be fooled; it is a beast when low bass starts to thump.

"EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE!!"

I was looking for a powered sub to replace an older Mackie 15" powered sub. As much as I like the portability of a 15" I wanted the low frequency extension of an 18". I had narrowed down my choices to QSC's KW181, JBL's PRX718XLF and EV's ETX18SP. I had worked with the QSC before and while it does get loud, the quality of bass was lacking. It just did not reach down low enough. EV's ETX had just been released and while the specs are very nice the 115 lbs weight was out of the question. Enter the JBL, a lightweight cab at 81 lbs with solid extension into 30hz. I am very happy with the output and quality of bass. My only con is that the amplifier fan is pretty loud at idle. It is noticeable when playing at very low volumes but disappears into the background with performance sound levels. I look forward to getting another in the future.

"Chest pounding solution in a rock solid mobile enclosure"

This sub is perfect for my mobile needs. It rocks all night long and sounds superior. It plays down to 30hz so the bass is extremely juicy. It is also very musical unlike some of its counterparts. Love the addition of the fan especially for hot summer day out door events. I also own its predecesor 618xlf and when i paired these two they are a rock solid combination. They definately are compatible sonically and sound exactly the same. I am very pleased with the purchase of the 718xlf as the 618xlf is hard to find. Even when using the 718xlf in venues that do not require the thumping bass of club, it is more than enough to give emphasis to your low end on the dance floor while not being over bearing to guests who are seated. zZounds thank you for carrying this amazing sub!!
