Out of the box, this bass was completely unplayable. The strings were hitting the frets at every position, making it impossible to play without significant setup work. I spent over an hour adjusting the truss rod, action, and intonation just to get it into playable condition.I’m comfortable doing setups because I’ve adjusted guitars and basses before for alternate tunings, but that shouldn’t be a requirement at this price point. On top of that, the fret work is below average — several frets stick out and will need to be filed down to avoid discomfort while playing.That said, once all the corrections were made, the bass actually sounds great and plays very well. There’s clearly potential here, but the quality control is lacking. For what this instrument costs, it should have been playable right out of the box without requiring extensive setup and fret work.
