Based on Jackson's Kelly body shape, the JS3Q Kelly Bird bass uses high-output humbucker pickups and active electronics to conjure a deep, aggressive sound.

"Awesome bass except the neck"
I recently bought this bass. I read several reviews online and one specifically on YouTube before I took the plunge I actually really like this bass. The tone is great and the quilt top is gorgeous. However, it has a very thick neck. It is probably the thickest neck I have ever played (think P bass neck on steroids) and different than my other Jacksons which are thinner. The only other complain I have is that the frets on mine were a little rough but they are similar to my other Jackson bass so I assume that is a production issue.

"Great Bass but Poor fit and finish"
First off, I'm a huge fan of Jackson basses and have wanted a Kelly for some time. THE GOOD- This bass is beautiful, it has such a great feel and playability to it. The neck feels good and the fingerboard is easy to walk around on. The pickups are extremely punchy and shapeable to achieve different tones. It really roars on the bottom and stays tight and clean through the Mids. Being a big Megadeth fan this bass paired with a Hartke is monstrous. NOWTHE BAD- The fit and finish of this bass was terrible. The frets were very sharp on the edges all the way down the neck. It was unplayable. I had to spend some time finishing the frets and rounding the edges. Next- the pots and input jack were loose as well as the tuners. Basically everything needed tightened. But after adjustments and a tune up everything was good. Last.... The battery compartment is in simple terms pathetic. The cut out is big enough for 2 batteries to fit. If you don't put something in there to hold the battery in place it beats around inside the body. Thankfully they sent a foam pad that can be used to help secure the battery. Overall- Once I finished the tune up I am very pleased with this bass. I'm disappointed in Jackson for the quality check on this bass as it should have never left the factory. Past that- GREAT BASS!
