Upon arrival, I carefully unboxed this instrument. Upon visual inspection, it was flawless. Pictures do not do it justice, by the way. After checking out the setup, making sure, there wasn't any fret buzz, checking the Floyd, I tuned it and began to play.I am a rhythm/lead guitarist in Blood Rose, a Celtic Metal band, so the "chug" factor is tantamount, and how it will cut through the mix. Granted there are a number of factors that govern an instrument's ability to cut through. But, let me say, the King V has not any problems cutting through. The King V is a Metal Behemoth. Neck Through Body, a Floyd Rose, EMG 81 and 85, you're not going to be playing Pop, Country, or the like. Metal and Hard Rock of all forms are its best self. This Metal Beast will chug, scorch the air with searing solos, and drive hard rhythm. The fit and finish are flawless. It looks quite sinister, in my humble opinion, to the point of being even a bit evil looking. It is comfortable to play, easy to derive the sound one needs. At this price point, you'll not find a finer, well built, feature full guitar with any other maker. You owe it to yourself.
Sound
I was quite curious about the King V's sound, given the wings are of Poplar. I am accustomed to Mahogany tone wood, with EMGs. Let me say, the sound is off the hook. EMG 81 in the bridge position, EMG 85 in the neck position, is a classic iconic configuration, one I am a solid proponent of, in a guitar. It is, simply, hard to beat.
Features
This guitar is solid, on all fronts. The choice of tone wood for the wings, electrics, the pickups, fretboard material, and even the Floyd, were well thought out.
Ease of Use
It was as easy as check out the setup, tune, and play! All I had to do was tune it, plug it in, and hammer a solid power chord. The guitar and amp did the rest.
Quality
It is well built, solid, through and through. Even the Floyd.
Value
Yes, and much more. One of the biggest bangs for the buck.
Manufacturer Support
Nope
The Wow Factor
Everyone who's seen it, loves it. They say, yup, it's definitely, You.
