I feel pretty qualified to review this guitar primarily because I've been a Jackson fan for all of the 17 years that I've been playing and have owned many of their guitars ranging from the economy models all the way up to the USA instruments. The only other electric guitar that I have owned that is in the same class as this is my RR1...and due to the active pickups in the SLAT3-7 it's sustain is actually superior to the above mentioned USA made model. The EMG pickups are super hot and give it a very aggrassive and well rounded crunch, in fact the only shortfall of this setup in my opinion is that the clean tones sound ever so slightly on the twangy side...but this should be about what you're accustomed to if you have spent any time playing through active pickups. The overall sound is deep, tight and clear and really couldn't get much better.

From the EMGs to the Original Floyd Rose, from the neck binding to the lightweight but solid body this guitar is very well designed and built. The only reason that I give it a 9 rather than a ten rating is because I wish it were available with an ebony fretboard, but then it would likely be a bit more expensive so maybe I'm wrong about that. This is a beautiful piece that is as playable as it is good looking.

All it required out of the box was a slight lowering of the action (I'm picky about very low action) and it was instantly a very smooth and playable instrument. I really cannot overstate the overall playablilty and comfort of this guitar.

Of nearly all of the guitars I've owned there has been one or two tiny details that I thought could have been paid a little more attention to...not the SLAT3-7. The quality and craftsmanship of this instrument are as nice as any guitar I've ever seen at any pricepoint. Period.

I would have gladly paid a few hundred dollars more for this guitar but Android glad that it was so affordable. Worth every penny.
