"I finally found a 5-string that I really like"

It rates a 9.5+. In my book nothing on earth rates a "10".
Sound
I've been looking for a solid-sounding B-string for quite some time - 4 or 5 years at least, trying instruments with prices that ranged to $5k. I've played well over 100 5- and 6- string basses looking for a B that sounds like a warm, natural extension of the G, D, A and E strings. The 705's B was crisp and deep so I pulled out the credit card within 10 minutes of playing it! It stands as one of my greatest purchasing decisions.
Features
I wish it had a 3-band eq section.
Quality
I really like the wood selection, the fit and finish are very nice and I find myself playing at the neck/body interface just to have the sensual curve in my hand.
Value
I bought it within ten minutes of playing it - and I'm a cheapskate!
The Wow Factor
It looks beautiful and it feels GREAT!

"The SG705, a solid good all around live bass."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
A great all around bass for the more experienced bassist.
Sound
The SG705 is very versitile well crafted bass. It is not designed for the begginer as it has very sensitive pickups and the action requires someone who has a light touch. It's active electronics allow for a full range of sound and blend well with most styles. Funk and high range are better areas for the SG705. Jazz stylists may not find this guitar as practicle.
Features
The Active Electronics of the SG705 are some the most sensitive on the market. However with them turned off the SG705 is lessened .
Quality
For the price, the SG705 is quite a bargin with the through neck and active electronics. It plays great for the more experienced bassist.
Value
I has seldom seen such a great deal with so many options in a through neck.
Manufacturer Support
No problems
The Wow Factor
This product has limited color selection which is the down side.

"a tru bass"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
not that iv played on many basses however this one was the best. a combination of fantastic sound, the extra 5th string (vital for any bassist) and good playing control. It is important to have good strings and a good amp because they must hav had something 2 do with it.
Sound
The sound is awesome - it has that perfect boomy bassy sound, with no tinnyness or roundness to it. It completely fills out the room with pure bass. Some of it may be to do with the amp to but i dont kno what amp was used.
Ease of Use
brilliant. the action wasnt too high that it was to hard to play but not too low to make the strings buzz. The strings on it must hav been flatwounds as they wer soo smooth and easy to slide nd do fingerwork.

"Ibanez SRX705NT SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Overall I love this bass, it plays nice, sounds good, looks good, and is a fair price. One thing I wish I knew before buying it was that as of yet there are no replacement pickups(besides the stock) so no Bartloni's or BassLines for me.
Sound
This an all around badass bass. It sounds good live isolated through a cab, but shines if you DI! I pair this bad boy with an Ampeg B4-R head, and BBE 482i sonic maximizer. Then run it through an AVATAR 410 cab w/Eminence neodymium speakers.
Features
It's got real hot pickups, and I think the choice of wood Ibanez used works well. It's light enough to wear for long periods of time, but still has great tone.
Quality
I have two complaints with this bass. The first is the 9-volt connector in the back of the guitar. I have broken two during the first battery change, but was given a new bass under warenty, so..... The second is the sustain on the B string I think it is unmatched, and lacking compaired to the other strings. I know how to set up a bass and just can't get it up to par.
Value
I think this bass is a great value.
Manufacturer Support
As I said before I am on my third bass due to the 9-volt cords in back breaking. I had no problem with Ibanez' warenty.
The Wow Factor
I think this bass is beautiful. The natural finish is awesome. Plus mine has the matt finish hardware, which is sweeeet!!!!
