"growling bass"

I have another Ibanez bass that has a bolt on neck. The difference between the two instuments is startling. Both play well and very fast; however this model with the electronics can be adjusted for very clean to almost a growling dirty low sound. It is phenomenal. And to look at it is a joy. It is beautiful. It was delivered quickly and in perfect condition. And the price was several hundred cheaper than the closest competitor.

"Great combination of features."

I have been through many, many basses. Have had a soft spot for some Ibanez basses. I was interested in the bass for a few reasons...
-Sculpted back is super comfy
-The SRT neck is very close to a true Jazz bass neck
-EMG 40 replacement pickups are readily available
I'm not disappointed at all. This is a keeper. My bandmates are shocked and won't believe it til they see it.
Sound
Solid electronics. You need to actually use the EQ to get this bass to sound it's best. It does have some good usable sounds and is very quiet. Easy enough to change the pickups/pre if you want. Most people seem to love or hate EMG's. I think they work well in some basses and not so well in others. This bass they work in.
Features
Has everything you need. Truss rod cover is a cool feature where you can slide it open without removing. Bridge is very functional.
Ease of Use
Plug it in and play. Tweek the preamp if you want.
Quality
One minor finish flaw in mine. Otherwise this bass was ready to go out of the box. Well setup and intonation was close. (never had it spot on with any bass I've received) Bass is well assembled and the finish is very tough.
Value
Very competetive for what you get.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't have to deal with them for this bass but from past experience I know Ibanez can be a pain to deal with

"Incredible Instrument"

Although the neck was too large for my liking and the screw placement on the pickups uncomfortable to a thumb anchor, the resonance of this neck through guitar was mesmerizing. This bass rings like a bell, with sustain and harmonics I never heard from a bass before. The variable middle tone control is also a feature that allows for sounds way beyond the ability of most basses. Learning to use and play with it is an adventure all its' own. Until that time, the basic bass and treble active equalization will allow you to make this bass do what you want. It just wants to sing. If the typical thin neck of many Ibanez basses is not a must for you, this bass is an incredible value. I think Ibanez has discontinued production on this model. It is destined to be a collector bass.

I'm a relatively new bass player and this is my first bass guitar. It is fantastic. The action is really nice, it stays tuned, and sounds great.
