This bass is absolutely worth every penny. She may look pretty but don't let her looks fool you, she's a BEAST. The passive tone sounds fantastic and the 3 band active EQ is accurate. The additional knob next to the volume lets you use the bass as a P bass, J bass, or a P/J hybrid. The variation in tone makes it really easy to play across a broad spectrum of music genres. The bass is lightweight and the pickups are very responsive. Would definitely recommend this to any bass player intermediate and up.

"Great Bass from Ibanez"

The SR necks can be a tad an the slim side for some, which is why their 5 string offerings usually feel so comfortable, and this one is about perfect. I love the satin finish and like all SR basses this one has a nice weight and balance, easy for getting into the upper registers is you so desire. Set up on mine was great out of the box, I raised the action a hair to my taste. Frets are nicely polished. To me the 655 trumps most of the other offerings on the SR line as I prefer the tone of an ash body on a bass, and the Nordstrand CND Pickups are light years ahead of the cheap Barts found in most. Choice of active or passive eq is nice. I generally run passive but have found a lot of good tones from both settings. I cannot comment here on manufacturer support as it hasn't been needed, in the past Ibanez has always stood behind their products.

"A great bass with an issue"

Purchased this for back up 5er. Main is a Dingwall Super J5 for anyone that cares. Packaging was minimal but bass did arrive with no cosmetic issues. Fit and finish is better than average for a bass in this price range. Set up was satisfactory and playable right out of the box. Tone is satisfactory and sits well in the mix. Low B sounds decent for a 34 scale instrument. Lows have to be managed or are a bit overbearing. Sadly, the bass I received has a HUGE grounding issue. Horrible hum/buzz both passive and active with pick up knob anywhere near center detent. I was forced to utilize only the P pick ups which managed to bring hum/buzz down to a minor roar. Sound guys finally quit glaring at me. I'm torn about what to do. I really like the bass. Tone is good. But PJ pick up set rendered useless by whatever the problem is. At this price break point, a customer shouldn't be expected to chase down a grounding issue or trouble shoot a bad pick up or pre. If I return it, there is no guarantee that a replacement wont have the same problem. This bass would be a 4, but my personal experience has been a 2 at best. Not happy.
