I have had this bass for some time now, and I am completely satisfied with it, but, it is a bit on the mellow side of music. As a supportive instrument, it can stand up to anything on the market. But I miss my sr655. Eventually, I will re-order it from somewhere. Hopefully, zZounds will re stock it, because this is where I prefer my money to go to. The SR series, in my opinion is by far some of the best basses in the industry. It is extremely difficult to find a better neck on a bass.Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or pro, try the SR series., and 9 times out of 10, you will not want to play anything else.

The most versatile bass, I have ever owned. It is truly the best bass, I have in my collection. ( I only have 2, the other is the Ibanez GSR 205). I am completely satisfied with both of them.As always, zZounds has come through and will always be my 1st choice when it comes to gear.

"With a proper setup, this bass is killer.."

I bought this bass in December and out of the box it needed a full setup, and a ground wire soldered that wasn’t even attempted to have been done previously. After that, this bass is fantastic. The neck is effortless and the tone is beyond punchy and articulate. The bridge pickup is finger style perfection and the neck pickup positively thumps. The aurora finish is beautiful. The pics don’t do it justice. The sr series balances so well and makes for a very comfortable bass standing or sitting. They are super light but sound tremendously full. For the money, you won’t find a better bass without spending quite a bit more. This isn’t a p bass, and certainly not a jazz bass so don’t think it will emulate one. It has something special that will cut through and dominate a mix if you need it to. Set the eq flat and get to know it.

Sounds good, plays good, built solid. I’m new to bass, but I played guitar professionally for 8 years. This bass is worth every penny. I’m sure a $2400 bass is in my future, but until then this bass exceeded my expectations, and is really fun to play. Having either passive or active is a plus. Passive sounds more vintage, but in a nice way.

Bought one if these four years ago. I went to tune bass and noticed that the bridge has the tail end pieces where the strings attach bend like real cheap metal. I am so disappointed with Ibanez because they marquet their basses as being of high quality yet they use cheap metals for their bridges.I wonder what else they cut corners in. Should I be worried about their fret material or the glue they use?One thing is for sure, I will not be buying anymore Ibanez basses from now on.
