This was my first top shelf guitar purchase and after playing and recording with this ax for one year I'm still able to just enjoy the sound it creates. I play death metal and use a variety of tunings and let me tell you this guitar can handle any tuning your little butt can think of. With the right gauge strings and a quick intonation you can tune this baby right down to F standard 8 string tuning and jam Meshuggah songs. The only problem I've came across is some 8 string large gauges wont fit through the tuner eye so you have to wrap it around the machine to get it on. DR strings especially the string 7 is to big to thread the slot. For recording quality you get the Fusion edge pickups. They are just fine for recording clear nasty tones. If I could describe what the sound of this guitar reminds me of it would be glass. It just sounds like glass to me. Very crisp and cutting tones. If you want to shred your able. If you want to riff some tasty rhythms this beast will eat other guitars alive. Playability is something that I find rare in a production guitar. The prestige neck treatment makes this guitar very easy to setup. This guitar is also very lightweight. I have a less expensive RG 7321 and its a lot heavier and is not so easy to setup. I would recommend this guitar to anyone that wants a modern Death Metal guitar that just gets the job done.

So the last couple years I’ve been trying a lot of different guitars in search of one that checked all the boxes. I’ve tried Jackson, Schecter, ESP, Solar and Ibanez. In 3 years Ive gone through about 8 different guitars and always felt something was missing. Well, I’m pretty sure This guitar is “The One “ !-LOOKS 10/10 This thing is immaculate ! From the blacked out wood grain, ebony fretboard to the matte black headstock it’s stunning. I absolutely love the white accents( binding, pickups, fret dots and Logo). I’ve tried the esp and Jackson guitars with the sand blasted wood grain and found them both to be lacking in appearance. Not the Ibanez. The finish is perfect, and the white binding pops ! The back of the neck looks killer as well. I’ve grown to appreciate the bare wood and satin feel of an unpainted neck. I’d choose that look every time. -FEEL 10/10 This thing is SOLID ! It has a fair amount of weight to it ( which I prefer ). The neck feels so awesome in my hands ! Stable, strong, smooth, with a more flat fretboard than a lot of other 7 strings I’ve tried. I find the flatter fretboard a lot more comfortable for my short fat fingers. lol. The frets are meticulously finished and flawless. The neck is set with low action with very minimal fret buzz ( if any ). The 25.5” scale length handles the low tunings with ease. Maybe it’s due to the reverse headstock, but it has plenty of tension on the low 7th. I’ve been playing 26.5” and 27” scale length guitars for a few years and I don’t have any issues with this one being 25.5”. I had it set up with 10-59 strings in drop G and it handled that tuning no problem. I then set it up with 10-56 strings in drop A and it plays and sounds perfect. I prefer smaller gauge strings so when I wana drop down I just use a drop pedal.

Wonderful 7 string. Plays great. Sets up great. I like to improvise and this guitar sings. The pickups are the only thing i didn't like. Replaced them with a D sonic bridge and rainmaker neck from dimarzio. Sounds amazing for riffs, solos, and beautiful clean tones. This guitar is not a one trick pony. If your in the market for a versatile 7 string, this is it.
