Guitarist and bassist of over 20 years. Tend to return to the playability of the classic Ibanez necks/lightweight bodies, specifically RGs. To me they've always been the most reliable. If you play an 8 string you need a 5 way switch/higher spectrum of tonal control, hard stop. I play metal/prog in my primary band but this instrument is incredibly versatile and love using the range on this monster to play many genres. The finish is beautiful which is this why this model stands out, but the RGMS8 sans the regal finish would be the standard for which other 8 strings are measured, this being a notch above solely on aesthetics. Any less truly is not acceptable based on price, specs and quality control.
