I've been wanting a 5 string bass for a while now but couldn't afford one. Then I found this bass with the 4 payment plan and now I'm loving playing 5 string bass. I did have to raise the action on the two lowest strings as they were buzzing even when I played really light. Other than that no problems at all. I love the active bass circuitry, I leave it about half way and then when the band really gets to rolling I can crank it up and shake the room. The maple neck is also a dream come true, I have always wanted that sound and feel. So far I like the pickups but I might just replace them with some Seymour Duncans, time will tell. Most of the time I just use a direct box straight into the PA and it sounds so huge, the low end is easily controlled using the tone, bass boost and 2 volume controls. One can dial up many different sounds on this bass. If your strapped for cash this is your answer to a five string bass. I need to mention that this is a well balanced bass, the top of the neck doesn't suddenly point down to the floor when I let go of it, stays right in place unlike my Fender Precision.
