I bought one of these used for almost nothing. I found two things lacking, one was the stock pickups I found them a little to warm and mellow, I wanted a more bright and twangy sound. The second was that it was lacking a Bigsby tailpiece. I switched out the stock pickups for a set of Artec-Giovanni MCH-1 vintage units. I also installed a coil cut circuit so that I could have two single coils and two humbuckers at the flip of a switch. Also put on a Bigsby B7 tailpiece which bolted right on with minimal fuss. Plus I put on a pick guard from a Les Paul Standard, this also required almost no modifications. So now I have a compact Rockabilly guitar that has twang for days!!! I chose this guitar for it's size and minimal controls. In stock form it is a fine guitar with great tone, albeit more suited for jazz, and fast neck. Pretty to. Plus it is cheap enough to do the modifications without sweating to much, and after the modifications it is a guitar worth having and I have no fears gigging with it with no backup.
Sound
Stock pick ups are very warm and thick. A little to thick and warm for my rockabilly tastes, I plan to switch out the pickups. Still in stock form it has great tone and sustain.
Features
Nice features are the inlays on the neck, the understated beauty of the finish, and quality throughout.
Ease of Use
Fast neck with low action right out of the "box"
Quality
Solid spruce top and maple neck, good woods make a good guitar.
Value
For the money you spend you are getting way more than you paid for.
Manufacturer Support
I got it used so no comment
The Wow Factor
Now that I have modified it to suit my playing style I love it. I picked it because of the petite body, the semi-hollow construction rings nice. Quality wood throughout. Very pretty neck inlays.

"Ridiculous Value & Tone"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Just picked up one of these hard-to-find beauties at a pawn shop, and the price was so low I'm embarrassed to reveal it...Incredible guitar, sounds like a much larger semi-acoustic, very impressive full spectrum tone, and sustain that's out of this world...beats most of my solid body LP's, which is unheard of (no pun intended). Easy to play and very pleasing to the eye. I imagine these models were discontinued only because the desired price points could not be maintained. I bet Ibanez brings them back someday!!!

Flawless finish, Beautiful wood. Solid feel. Looks and feels like it will last for years. REady to play with minimal adjustment out of the box.
The Wow Factor
Have "store tested" many differect guitars over past several months, including stratocasters, telecasters, gibsons, etc. Kept coming back to this guitar for a combination of finish, action, sound, overall appearance.
