"Hooked!"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
What can I say? Between the excellent playability, the rich, creamy sound, and the eye-popping good looks, I'm totaly obsessed. It has relegated my other guitars to the back-burner, because I can't seem to put this one down. Thanks Ibanez for making a real archtop for the masses!
Sound
I have been playing a '62 Epiphone Olympic Special for many years, and have been looking for something with a fuller tone to add to my sound. I decided to take a chance on the Artcore, and boy does this baby deliver! I can plug it straight into my Gibson GA-6 without any effects and the sounds I can get continue to amaze me. The bridge pickup is crisp and really cuts through the mix, while the neck pickup rolls out a lush, fat tone with incredible bass, making it a wonderful blues box. Plug this into a Marshall stack, crank up the gain, and it flat out rocks like a Les Paul. It's really a sound chameleon. This guitar has major mojo!
Features
I rated this down a bit due to the already famous P/U selector switch. As previously noted, it's stuck in an unfortunate location underneath the trem bar, (but I usually swing it over the bridge anyway) and the switch knob keeps coming loose, so I'll probably replace this with a Gibson switch. This aside, the trem bar works like it should, as long as you treat it with the subtlety it's due, and the Gibsonesque speed knobs are a nice touch.
Quality
The fit and finish on the body itself is just incredible. The mirror like shine really shows off the body curves, and the binding is top notch. Ibanez chose to put most of the real quality in the guitar body itself, as it should. Let's be honest, most of us end up modifying our guitars to suit our particular tastes and needs, so the harware can be a little on the cheap side if it means making the instrument more affordable to the masses.
Value
A full hollowbody with dual humbuckers and a vintage tremolo for under $500.00? Are you kidding? This is one of the best buys out there! Sure it's not perfect, but in over 30 years of playing, I've never found a guitar that is. But there are a lot of very nice ones out there, and this one is a gem. The sounds and features are worth far more than the price tag would suggest.

So far, I haven't had to deal with the company, so I can't opine either way.
The Wow Factor
Love at first sight! I was absentmindedly perusing through other guitars when this one jumped out and bit me. No matter what else I looked at, it just kept coming back. I think part of it was the shape, and part of it was that green. No one really kows what color this is supposed to be. Ibanez calls it turquoise, my wife calls it jadite, others call it pistachio, but pair it up with the vintage-look cream accents, and it turns heads wherever it goes.

"love my artcore"
i will keep this guitar until it breaks in half or I die, wouldn't trade it for much below a custom fender or gretsch. no hesitation i would buy it again, and would replace it if it was lost.
Sound
This guitar sounds great, especially considering it's price. Playing it out of my vox ad60vtx i can get any sound i can imagine. Very warm and full sounding on the neck PU and sharp and crisp on the bridge. My band mates, one of which has a collection of guitars from gretsch and gibson, constantly are complimenting the tone of this guitar. A buddy of mine comes to borrow my guitar to play instead of his "better" aka more expensive SG
Features
i love everything about this guitar, the electronics are good. the tremelo is fantastic and it feels great to play.
Ease of Use
after initial set up and adjustment to my liking it has been perfect, checked the intonation after over a year of daily usage and numerous string changes and had to make almost no adjustment, solid guitar.
Quality
the body looks amazing and i love the color. no issues with the electronics and it has even held up to some pretty serious drops without any damage. I play this guitar everyday and it still looks as good as the day i bought it.
Value
huge value, can't ask for a better looking, better sounding guitar.
Manufacturer Support
haven't had to deal with ibanez at all, can't say
The Wow Factor
I think this guitar is beautiful, it has the classic look, but is thin enough and light enough to be played comfortably. the neck feels great and i get tons of compliments about it at shows.

"Get the sound & vibe of the classic Gibson 335 for under $500"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I had wanted a guitar that sounded like a Gibson 335 - just for the hell of it - and discovery of this blew any others out of the water. Of course if I wanted the original, I'd find one and pay for it (or much, much more for a Gibson 355). But I simply didn't want to invest the money. This is why I was so surprised to find the Ibanez - quality at such a low price, and the tremelo to die for...
Sound
The Ibanez is a serious contender in the Gibson 335/355 league. Easily blowing away the Epiphone Dot (its major rival) in every column, it is the sound of the Ibanez that is most bewitching. Rich, earthy blues tone at one end, and sharp, Bernard Butler-esque attack at the other.
Features
For the money, the Ibanez cannot be beaten - no way. Example: compare this to the Epiphone Dot - it comes with a rather incredible vintage-style tremelo that, even under wild use, keeps the guitar in tune. The Epiphone seems way less of a grandson of the Gibson 335 with no standard tremelo. Beautiful finish, the use of great wood, and speedy knobs.
Ease of Use
The tremelo is the main feature of the Ibanez, and man how it keeps in tune. Uncanny. Extremely easy to use, like the old Gretsch.
Quality
Considering the low price, the quality is exceptionally decent. Like it has been said, the company put the care and effort into the body and the tremelo to produce an amazingly inexpensive guitar for what you get.
Value
No doubt about it, for the money this is pure value - this appears to be a universal comment
The Wow Factor
Those guitarists looking to find a new alternative to shelling out thousands on a vintage 355 (or a bit less on a 335) will be drooling when this is in their hands. It is just so much better to look at and play than the Epiphone Dot. The finish is immaculate - and you certainly do not have to be a rockibilly dude to think this is sexy.
