"Surprisingly versatile guitar!"
When I got this guitar this thing was a beauty to behold! the natural finish with the black hardware is cool and the wooden volume and tone knobs is a nice touch. The guitar needed a little done to it but after that it plays like butter. This guitar is small compared to the average sized archtop and it's light as a feather! Now for the sound. It's on the bright side but very punchy to me. The mini humbucking pickups gives you a more modern jazz sound on the neck pickup. If you roll the tone off and the volume just a tad with the right amp like a fender twin you can get close to a vintage jazz sound. Now on my Hot Rod deluxe with the volume full and the tone full I can get a classic jazz tone. Now the middle position is clear and punchy. Cuts through the mix very well, actually every position cuts very well. Bridge pickup is nice and punch but not too trebly. When I gig with this guitar it didn't feedback at gig volume. It wasn't until I turn up the volume on my twin reverb to 5 it started to feedback and 5 on a twin is super loud! I play in a R&B, funk, and blues band and this guitar was able to give my the crystal clean sound with some chime I needed to get funky! It even handle distortion well a gig volumes. If you thinking about getting this guitar get it!
