Need a Jazz guitar, look no more. This budget friendly guitar sounds great, good tone, very rounded and pleasing to the ear when plugged to and amp. It is nice you can play it unplugged although not as loud as an acoustic guitar. It looks amazing. A lot of details go into this guitar not common on other brand at this price range.
Sound
I am currently taking Jazz 101 in college and I wanted a decent Jazz Box. Because I am not a Jazz player, I did not want to spend a lot of money on a guitar. The Ibanez hollow body guitars came highlight recommended by my professor and fellow students. I managed to try one and I was hooked. Sounds great plug to an amp. The sound is woody, very clear, with good bass and well defined highs but not piercing. I would describe its sound as rounded and pleasant.
Features
Everything works well on my guitar. It is visually stunning. The amber color is transparent and you can appreciate the grain. There is a little flaw on my finish by the neck and body joint, no big deal, otherwise this guitar finish is stunningly beautiful with binding in the front, back, fretboard and headstock. The inlay work is beautiful and classy. The level of detail on this guitar is impressive for the cost. Sadly, Out of the box it required a full set up, not just adjustment. The bridge seats on the body of the guitar. The saddles are fixed. The intonation was hard to adjust and required moving the bridge. Once the setup was done, it played very smoothly. The neck is very comfortable not chunky at all. Felts like a slightly slimmer C shape to me. It takes time to get use to the thicker hollow body but it is great that you can play it and hear it clearly unplugged.
Ease of Use
I use this guitar through a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50 combo set clean both channels with slight variations on the mids, bass and treble. The pick ups have a pad fill to me. In general it sounds very good and for the price, I say it sounds great. Have not played it super loud yet so can’t really say anything about how it feeds back.
Quality
It feels very well made.
Value
I think the AF95 is a lot of bang for the money.
Manufacturer Support
I like Ibanez guitars but never had to interact with the company other than product registration. That is great because that is a good indication to me of the quality of their products.
The Wow Factor
The Ibanez AF95 is a great guitar at a budget price. The guitar is beautiful full of embellishments that make it very pleasing. It felt right in my hands. It made me want to play. It sounds great plugged to an amp. It is also nice that it has sort of an acoustic sound that allows for good unplugged practice .
