I have ownesd the previous version of this passive monitor and am here to tell you that this "works like a charm" in helping the singer(s) avoid vocalizing to the phase shift which we experience when matching pitch to speakers directly beside or behind us. In other words, it helps you to sing on key, without distracting you with a stereo presentation of everything else coming through the system. The clarity depends on what you send into it, clear signal, clear monitor; distorted signal, distorted monitor. I never had a bit of trouble with clarity or volume, this little gem "puts out".
