How the hell aren’t these more popular? This guitar is insanely good for not a lot of money. I’m a guitar tech and I work on and play a lot of guitars. The Polara Deluxe is up there with high dollar USA made guitars. Yamaha owns Guild now and the quality is second to none. No neck dive, pickups are insanely versatile - you can get twang or metal and they both sound great. Just a crazy deal. I can’t wait to see what they roll out next..

Im still a beginner player. Part of that reason is because I keep purchasing recommended entry guitar's. Esp Ltd 256 lp, and Epiphone custom to be exact. Both had some issues out of box. Frets, nut, pickup height, intonation ect. All things a beginner can't and should not have to do! Finding a reputable Luthier is something players have to have some knowledge of how a guitar works to know what to look for (except basic string, neck and basic tuning issues that almost any friends or guitar shop can without to much knowledge) just like your mechanic, you want to be able to trust he knows what both of you are talking about. Sorry about ramble but iv been waiting over 2 yrs to get what I should have got in the first place. Alot of giving up, then trying again, giving up again, ect. Now i have researched guitars to the point of going into guitar center, and literally teaching sales person about the difference between guitar, pickup, brand, ect. Now i can't remember where I first came across this guitar but im so happy i did. The SG look, set neck with NO NECK DIVE and weighing less than 7lbs, really thick and beveled pick guard, perfect paint, no blemishes, smooth knobs, and nice 3-way switch, 2 volume, and 2 push/pull tone knobs, no locking tuner's but do get 18:1 open back tuner's that look sweet and smooth as butter. Everything works right out of the box. So even though Ill still take it to shop for professional set up iv been able start using it right away no problems. It also CAME WITH PICKS!!! i can't believe why makers would not include something so simple, but so easy for advertising! This is a Indonesian made guitar, but guild is under the Yamaha corp.umbrella so could be the reason for quality. This checks all the boxes for beginners or experts. Studio or stage use. Unless you are dead set on an LP, this guitar should be top your list!!!

"Best (non) SG Out There"

I've been a guitar player for over 30 years now, and have owned lots of different guitars over the years. Mainly Gibsons and a few classic Strats.I was in the market for a new SG and was extremely disappointed with the new Gibson SG Standard I bought, AND it's replacement. So, I figured I'd give the Guild a chance. Man, am I glad I did. The fit and finish out of the box was spot-on. I ordered the Cherry Red model, and there is nothing on this Polara that feels, or sounds, like a sub-$1000 guitar. The pickups sound GREAT, clean and (especially) dirty. And they actually have a cool split option that's useable. Nice full, rounded neck profile. Excellent balance, NO NECK DIVE! It arrived needing minimal setup work and stays in tune for days. It's hard to describe, but it feels like this guitar just WANTS to be played. The harder you dig in, the better it responds.Great tone, great looks, great playability for a fraction of the cost of a new Gibson SG. If you try it, you won't be disappointed. Personally, I should have bought a Polara years ago.
Musical Background:
30 plus years of guitar.
Musical Style:
Progressive stoner riffs mostly & some blues when I'm drinking.

"Better than an SG"

I've been a Gibson & Epiphone player for 30 years now, and I was in the market for a new SG. After being disappointed by not one, but the two Gibson SG's I ordered online, I figured this Guild was worth a shot. Man, I am glad I ended up with this Polara. Better than the SG in many ways. First off, the body. Thicker than expected, but still fairly light. Very well balanced, with NO NECK DIVE! Full, rounded neck profile, excellent tuning stability and great sounding pickups with useable coil-splitting. So it sounds great both clean and with lots of gain. The nut was cut perfectly and has some unique touches, like the open tuners, cool reflector knobs and embedded little knob indicators. A well built guitar that resonates better than any of my Gibsons, and it's just really fun to play. I should have tried a Guild years ago, but better late than never.
Musical Style:
30 years of progressive, stoner blues.
