This is a sleeper eq, as I had never heard of it until doing some research. It won't work standalone, and is designed to work with the manufacturer's pre-amp. But, it provides an in/out jack, so you can use it with an insert on other preamps (if impedance is a good match). I patched mine into a Warm Audio TB12 pre. It works great ... provides a good color eq much like an actual Neve 1073. It really does sound surprisingly good for the money. No high-pass filter, but you probably have that on your mic or pre already, right? The high shelf control and the selectable mid and mid-hi control (bell curve) can provide you with some nice air on stuff like vocals and acoustic guitar. Or, cut those muddy mids on electric guitar. Also sounds great on bass DI. Highly recommended!
