I compared a lot of 2A and 3A type compressors and eventually landed on this one. For vocals, this compressor/limiter adds a lot of body and “umph” without raising the noise floor too drastically. With a 76 style comp or on its own, you can’t go wrong with this unit. Also, zZounds shipped my order quick and it arrived within 2 days, as promised, even during Thanksgiving rush.

Put it after WA76 compressor and before a Tascam 2488 neo multi tracker ,preamp is UA 710 twin finity . Set 76 to a 12:1 limit mode cutting highest peaks . Used the GA comp 3a in regular compression mode set to its mod feature . I was pleased as it worked exactly as it did in the video. It adds a fat , warm , fuller sound with treble sparkle and a punch . I had to check the tracking meter as it sounded louder but it was - 16 db with 3a bypassed or on ! I thought the video had just cranked it but found out this thing is GOOD ! You can put heaps of compression on this and its transparent . I threw every instrument at it and a complete track in mono and it was just like the video . UA has info on website about using 1176 with the 2a . I have several compressors under a K sitting in a closet now. Look forward to trying out the GA comp 2A which, they said is coming in a few months .
