I will dispense with the superlatives and address the important items:1. Nice tone unplugged; the exact subdued, muted attack and soft-fast decay I was hoping for, effected by the solid (carved? pressed?) spruce top with no extra holes to disrupt the natural vibrational pattern.2. Nice tone plugged in(to a Quilter AvCub using the blackface channel). Bass and mid at 12:00, and rolled treble off to 9:00, with the guitar volume at around half/5 and the tone at a full open 10; master volume full on, gain just enough to get the volume desired. Great tone, though I am still experimenting to get it _just_ right...3. Beautiful finish except for one small Blem which zZounds credited me to offset. Nice, simple, elegant design, with tasteful binding and inlays.4. The tone pot, as I have read, is a 500k _LINEAR_ What the hey Guild? Anyway adjusting the tone is a futile undertaking with binary results: full open or full closed. Full closed occurs in a thin arc just before the stop is hit, within ±⅛ inch, and is in the 'muddy' category. My only real complaint, which I will rectify myself by replacing it with a 250k log pot, and expirimentation with cap values.5. Nut/0 fret width is a bit narrower than I prefer, but still imminently playable; I just have to finger more carefully to avoid finger-string buzz.6. My pickup height seems to produce an even output across all strings without any adjustment on my part: perhaps I got lucky or have gone completely deaf finally...7. Neck bow is perfect from the factory with not even a hint of twist sighting down the fretboard. Impressive.8. Bridge was quite high from the factory, but adjusted down to a comfortable string height with no fret buzz or bottoming anywhere.9. Guitar came with two bridges: a 'highly' compensated version installed, and a more 'typically' compensated unit in with the tool kit baggie. 9a. Intonation with the 'highly' compensated bridge adjusted out almost dead-on for all strings; close enough I'm not gonna complain.10. Case is rugged, adequate, but with not much attention paid to finish and appearance. The tolex sticks up where it should be glued down, and the case generally looks thrown together by the graveyard shift. Inside is plush, of course, and the guitar is adequately protected. Almost unheard of for a new guitar to come with a case these days...I researched and bought this guitar intending for it to become my main jazz battle-axe, usurping my Epiphone Broadway (which I still love and play regularly). It has the exact tonal characteristics and profile I was hoping for; plays nice; sounds pretty; priced reasonably (I'll never be able to afford a Benedetto or such...).Good score, sweetened by zZounds' unimpeachably stellar customer service

This is a beautiful instrument. Three minor issues: 1) The tailpiece can make changing strings extremely difficult. If the little washers on the strings are not lined up right, they get wedged into the narrow space and it's very difficult to get them out. The factory didn't install the strings correctly, so it took me roughly a half hour and a bunch of tools to change two of the strings. 2) The floating pickup floats closer to the bass strings than to the treble strings, so the E and B end are not as loud in the mix. I may insert a tiny piece of foam to correct this. 3) The Guild website invites feedback, but I got no reply.

The first guitar I was given was my dad's harmony patrician arch top, I love the guitar and it is so unique, I always wished that it had a pick up on it. Guild makes a wonderful guitar, it is so easy to play and it sounds fantastic. While this is a "jazz" guitar, it rocks being played hard and the de armond pick up sounds great coming out of my cox AC 30. The guitar feels like a solid guitar very professional, if I had a need to take it to a gig, I wouldn't be worried about performance issues with it. I love the overall quality, feel, sound and looks from my Guild arch top. I wish I had two more hands cause I'd give this guitar four thumbs up!

Received it from Zounds in two days, I got the blemished model but like the LGB 30 I bought from them I can't find a thing wrong with it, A few years ago I bought one and it had a crack under the volume pot in the wood, I liked the way it played but knew the crack would grow without a repair and returned it, the new one has thumb wheel pots and a added tone control . Plays and sounds great .

Previously sent a review did not get posted hmmm. But this is a update I replaced the broken string it came with. Played it The instrument is great to play and is way better than I previously thought. Still having a issue with used equipment though . If you can purchase a new one do it!! It's worth it!

Bought one a few years ago from zZounds, it came with a crack under the pick guard at the area of the volume pot, the case lid was hard to close and that was the problem, zZounds made good on it as always but I have been tempted to try another one as it looked and played well.

Broken string scratched to hell pickgaurd used instruments?? I would like to purchase new that's exactly why I dont go to Guitar Center. This happens a lot. Another point Guild should consider using the same oriental as Epiphone the difference in quality is amazing especially for the price!!
