I Purchased a blemished version of this back in June/July 2014. First let me say, i couldn't find Any Blemish on this guitar. Maybe a minute detail here or there, but overall just a really awesome finish and appearance.
Sound
This bad boy sounds awesome, with the BurstBucker 1 and 2 pups, lots of tonal range.
Quality
Now this guitar had some issues, lets begin with the maestro vibrola, It had to be replaced. With respect of how the strings were landed in relationship with the neck. the entire angle was just wrong, and should have never left the gibson factory. Secondly there was a problem with the strings, they were not quite sitting right on the bridge. Lastly my 12th and 7th fret inlays just popped right on out. I literally felt like my guitar was falling apart. Luckily I found a true guitar master by the name of Larry Cragg. He is the one who made this guitar right.
He gave me two options, Both included removing the gibson maestro and either using a tradional stop bar or put on a bigsby B7. Since Larry was Neil Youngs' guitar tech for 40yrs i had him pit the Bigsby on. Oh yeah, this guitar also needed a set up right out of the box.
I have pictures and would share them, but no way to attach them to this review.
Value
Just beware, you will probably need a professional setup at the very least upon receiving. I paid around 2200 for a blemished guitar, and then turned around and had to invest another 400$ into it just to make it right. Even Larry Cragg said that this guitar should have never left Gibson's Factory, that it was a "lemon" and to return it.
I explained to him i bought it on the internet and would just rather him work his magic. And he did
Manufacturer Support
Never bothered contacting Gibson. Knowing their warranty doesn't cover Blemished products. Go Figure
The Wow Factor
It did and still does have a WOW factor. Just exercise caution when making a purchase, be prepared that these guitars may need some REAL professional attention. Its unfortunate but a reality.
