Gibson 2015 SG Special Electric Guitar (with Case)

The comfortably priced SG Special offers two octaves of rock via its 24-fret scale. Its dual 61 Tribute humbuckers can really push an amp into overdrive.

"Much nicer than I was expecting after reading all the negative stuff about the 2015's"

I bought this because I love SG's and I have 7 different models and wanted a 2015 to go with them, And because I got it for a steal as a "Blem" from zZounds. As far as the blem goes, All I can see is a real slight imperfection in the clearcoat that will probably buff out. The wider neck takes a little getting used too, Sure, It's easy to say "I hate it" if you just pick one up and play it for a few minutes. I found after playing it for 30 minutes straight, I barley noticed it. This one I got has absolutely NO fret buzz anywhere and that was hard for me to believe since I have bought new 3-4k Gibsons that need work to get rid of the buzz. This budget model has none. Intonation and action are perfect too. Maybe I just got lucky. I'm not a fan of the G-Force tuning but I can live with it (I have 50 other guitars without it) The neck on this is fabulous once you get used to the width. It is really only noticeable when you get up to the higher frets (Over 12th) I have BIG hands and fingers so it does not bother me. The tone on this IS brighter, I think because of the brass nut, But that can be dialed in to however I like with my amp settings and tone on the guitar. Overall, I like it! And for the price I paid, I LOVE IT! (Thanks zZound's!) The case is incredible, The neck is very nice with zero buzz and low action, Intonation is perfect, Finish is nice, Pickups are nice, Sounds good, Plays good. For all the crying I have heard about these I must say I was surprised. Sure, I think that the older Gibsons are better (If it's not broke, Don't try to fix it) But this is by no means a crappy guitar. I plan on keeping it and playing it. It's not bad at all.

I have now passed the 60 day mark of owning this amazing guitar, My very first impressions (after admiring the new case design which precludes the need to purchase a new ATA case) were noting the absolute beauty of the woodworking and wood finish. My next impressions were of the fantastic out-of-the-box playability and wide ranging tonal qualities. The Gibson SG 2015 Special quickly became my "goto" Guitar which was no small feat as it overtook my other 5 guitars in no particular order. 1- Gretsch Electromatics , a 6 string w/Bigsby 2- A Fender 1960's re-issue Jaguar 3- A Gibson Midtown Custom 4- Taylor Tz5 (which does barely win out for acoustic settings) 5- Gibson 2004 or 5 SG Standard The 2015 Special has more tonal variations and a 24 fret fretboard which blew me away, This is the guitar I have been looking for my entire 40 + years of playing. I cannot say enough positive things to match my elation. Now to specifics: 24 Frets - The additional 2 frets of direct access makes a huge difference in my playing with ageing hands. While I am by no means a "shredder" I do go for the highs in blues and classic rock. The G-Force auto-tuning works amazingly well and allows me to keep the audience directly engaged in banter while I mute the output and strum. I have also had occasion to engage the G-Force in mid song instead of trying to manually tune by ear or do compensating bends among all the other noise on stage It also makes alternate tunings a complete breeze. There has been much discussion between early adopters and purists as to the legitimacy of the G-Force but I liken it's acceptance to the tuning fork vs. electronic tuners discussions a "few" years back. Anything that works and lets me concentrate more on performing is something I will try. The marketing gimmicks- I couldn't care less about the headstock signatures, but the hologram on the back of the headstock is rather nice and reassuring to have Les Paul smiling and waving back at me when I engage the G-Force !!! The Fret and Fretboard treatments- This fretboard is a pure joy to work with, the Frets themselves, so finely honed and equal, are astounding with the Pleck intonation treatment. The Rosewood fingerboard has been treated in such a way that there is no discernable variance anywhere to be found which makes it a "keeper" in and of itself There are other features which I have not used yet such as the adjustable Zero fret and I have not analyzed the titanium tune o'matic bridge. In Summary: You can't go wrong with this purchase, if you can still find one since they are a 1 time limited edition, which can only help to keep their value 10 - 15 years down the line. That is If you haven't completely worn it out with constant playing it as I am doing !

I had the 2014 version of this guitar and absolutely loved it, but I had to part with it. When I saw this new gloss models with G-Force tuners I was skeptical, but I made the impulse buy anyway. I am really glad that I did. I have a problem with buying and selling guitars but I think this is a keeper. The sound is perfect for my playing style, beefy with a lot of sustain, glossy clean and dirty when you want it to be. Super smooth play and I LOVE the wider neck. Everything about it really, even the G-Force tuner people seem to love to hate on. It makes life a hell of a lot easier and works very well so what's not to like? I also love the little hologram of Les Paul, a really cool little detail. Overall I would highly recommend this guitar for SG lovers. The feel is great and in my opinion it's the best modern SG out there, especially for the price.

Ordered a slightly used Gibson 2015 for my son. Easy approval for 8 month plan and shipping was super fast. Product came exactly as described and we couldn't be happier with our purchase. Great company!
