I've owned a Studio, Standard and now this 60s model. This is by far the best sounding out of all of them.

After years of calling myself a Martin guy, I finally decided to try the iconic J-45. Opening this guitar, you immediately see the direction Gibson is going. Glossy and detailed. Just a beautiful guitar! I immediately wanted to wipe off my fingerprints. lol Without retreading all the Martin vs Gibson arguments, I have to say that, for me, this guitar just sings ‘play me!’ Such a joy to hear. Right out of the box, the set up was great. The often touted Gibson quality control problems were nowhere to be found with this one. The short scale spacing takes a minute to adjust to. But the fat shape of the neck really works with my longer fingers. I played for hours without a cramp. Definitely a different sound than the D18. But just a different kind of wonderful. If you’re considering this level guitar. And, like me , don’t care about plugging in your acoustic, then you just can’t go wrong. It’s a wonderful guitar. And thanks, most of all, to ZZounds for putting these wonderful instruments in the hands of average Joes like me. This is my third pay as you play guitar purchase and the level of service from ZZounds is just amazing. Buy it while they’re still making it. You won’t regret it.
