Okay, I like a lot of people have always loved the sound that you get from a Hummingbird. It seems to have a sparkling rich tone. I was debating on buying a guitar and I saw this. It took me a few days to research it, and I just decided to pull the trigger. Let me say that the rosewood construction creates a unique sound. It's really clear and resonates well.Fit and finish were fantastic. I was kind fof awestruck to open the case. When I did it was not disappointed. True it's the most money I have ever spent on a guitar, but I feel like the quality and the sounds and playability are well worth it.

To be honest, I had decided to buy a real solid acoustic, and had pretty much narrowed it down to either a D-16 or a D-18. I have a Martin Road Series and was thrilled with the sound and because I've played my friends D-18 and to say it's close to perfection would be a realistic view of the D-18.I happened to stop into a local store that I go to a lot and he had just taken one of these Hummingbirds in trade on a Ric. When I asked him about it he told me the story and said, "Just play a D and listen." Wow, it had that booming sound like I expected but it also had that bright shimmery sound also. He said, "That's why people buy Hummingbirds." He had already sold that one and was just changing the strings before the new owner was picking it up. He told me to google Gibson Hummingbird Studio. I did it right there and saw the Rosewood and placed my order right then, before I had time to think about it. When it came I was totally amazed about everything. Even my wife asked what guitar that was I was playing. Here's my philosophy on life, it's too short. If you are on the fence about this one, just take the leap and get ready. The only issue I have is I really wish that Gibson could just use the same pick guard as the Hummingbird gets, but that's my only sore spot about this guitar. I had just stopped back into his store to look at a Keely Dark Side pedal and asked if it was possible for him to change the pick guard and he said, "Yes and no; yes I can change a pick guard, but no, because Gibson does not sell Hummingbird pick guards" I'm still over the moon every time I take this guitar out of the case.
