I've owned some decent acoustics... a Martin, an Epiphone jumbo, a Yamaha, a Takamine, a Michael Kelly, all of which didn't quite get me there. I've played some higher end Martins, vintage Guilds, which sounded better than what I had, but not better enough to pull the trigger. I listened to a couple of videos on this guitar, and wham! I hear sustain, clarity, and dynamics from these players... and I knew in my gut, this was the one! This guitar can hold a note as long as you need, it is responsive to your touch which gives you outsized dynamic range, the neck is right, wide enough and deep enough for my hands, and the tones just sparkle! The ebony fretboard, sitka and walnut body just reverberates... I have found the guitar that sings like I imagine. At 1600 bucks, this is a bargain for an American made guitar with the fit, finish, and sound this Gibson G-Writer has! I could not be more emphatic... if you're a lefty player, check one of these out!
