Les Paul Studio Premium Customer Review
Sound
I was simply amazed! I bought it on Friday afternoon and took it to a studio session on Saturday. I had to play a song that called for a vintage rock sound that I was a bit worried I may not get with my strat. I plugged in the LP to see what it would sound like. To may amazement, I did not have to adjust a singe setting on my amp. It just natuarlly sounded perfect!
Quality
The quailty of this instrument in amazing. The only difference I can see (and belive me, I tried the models that were at least 1,000 dollars more) was the binding around the body and the chambered body.

"The Premium Plus has tone FOR DAYS!!!!"
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Sound
Let me just say WOW! I purchased this Les Paul Studio Premium Plus as I had heard that it is as good as, IF NOT BETTER than the standards and customs. Let me say this...the only difference I can tell between this guitar and the customs is the cosmetics. These premium pluses are in my opinion EQUAL to the Les Paul Custom in tone and sustain. Who cares if it is "chambered" when it gets better tone! It's definitely lighter than even my Charvel telecaster.
The other guitar player in our band has a Les Paul Standard and the first night I brought this bad boy in, it made his Standard sound sub standard. I'm being serious! The tone on my Studio Premium Plus runs circles around his Standard's tone. AMAZING TONE AND SUSTAIN!
Features
There is only one thing I am disappointed with on this guitar. The volume knobs don't allow gradual volume decrease. 1 IS LOUD! and O is "off". So much for volume control. Other than that, I would give every feature on this guitar a 10. I'm sure I'll feel different when the gold hardware tarnished but for now...SUPER! The pick ups were a VERY pleasant suprise. VERY thick sound and super tone.
Ease of Use
There is a learning curve on the sounds I need to acheive with this guitar as I play in a cover band but this instrument has great action, easy to play and has a look like no other.
Quality
Incredible quality. I'd expect nothing less from Gibson.
Value
Seriously consider buying a Studio Premium Plus before a Custom or a Standard. Lighter, better tone and better looking in my opinion.
The Wow Factor
Just simply a beautiful guitar!

Since I have over 20 guitars, and I do not play outside my home, this guitar will be with me in my coffin. I keep all of my axes and amps in perfect condition.
Sound
I just bought this guitar yesterday so now I have six Gibson Les Pauls. This is by far the lightest, sweetest sounding, and one of the most beautiful of the other five. The other five include a '59 reissue and a limited edition (only 76 made) '58 black top reissue. This is a killer guitar. I purchased the natural one and since it is finishied with nitro celulous lacquer, I can remove the lacquer and stain it any color I want. With the colored tops, this would not be possible.
Features
It has all the features of any Gibson Les Paul and the 49x pickups sound very good in this guitar. I have a white Studio with the same pickups but this guitar sounds much better than the heavier white one.
Ease of Use
I love a big neck and this guitar is a pleasure to play. Bar chords are easy to play due to the fretboard radius and large frets. The natural satin finish on the neck feels nice when compared to that sticky feeling you get with a gloss poly finish neck.
Quality
There appears to have a head stock that may be made of one large piece of mahogany and the right "ear" appears to be slightly different. This may be just the natural grain of the wood.
Value
Should be priced around $2500.00 because of the tone, light weight, sweet tone and the flamed maple top
Manufacturer Support
Gibson has always provided me with excellent service
The Wow Factor
The tone and light weight are remarkable.
