"best impulse purchase ever"

how can i not be satisfied at this price?
Sound
i wasn't really into the p90s until i picked this bad boy up. the tone is warm, but not too sludgy. purrs like a kitten.
Features
how much can i say about features on a les paul... pretty standard stuff.
Ease of Use
i agonize over every detail when i shop for gear. after a few months of looking around, i had pretty much settled on this one les paul studio. but when i went to pick it up, i saw one of these right next to it and figured i'd give it a shot despite it being a few hundred bucks cheaper, which i expected to hear. but it sounded better than the studio, and felt so much more comfortable and natural, so i walked out with it.
Quality
it felt better built than the studio that was several hundred bucks more. usa made and road worthy. for awhile i kinda worried about snapping the neck with the double cutaway but i got over it. it's a solid axe. only prob was that the tip of the pickup switch fell off and disappeared the day i got it. but who cares.
Value
i'm realistic. this guitar will get it's ass kicked by many another guitar. but it's a hell of a value in terms of quality to average cost. it's comparable to most gibsons in the $1500 range, and i got mine for like $550.
Manufacturer Support
support is a box of strings and a soldering iron for me.
The Wow Factor
way sexy. it's the les paul you get when you're sick of everyone and their mother getting les pauls with the same damn humbuckers and tone. it's the gibson quality noone can deny with a sleek and kinda vintage-y uniqueness. also in this category is the gibson bfg, but that one's a little farther out in left field with the killswitch and sandblasting.

"The best P-90 guitar out there and the best value!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've been playing guitar for 30 years. This and a custom Fender strat (which was 10 times the price of this guitar) are my favorite axes. This is the BEST guitar with P-90 pickups, bar none, at any price point.
Sound
Bridge is like a tele on steroids--except manly twang, not shreaky girly twang. Neck is silky smooth and purrs. Suitable for blues, rock, jazz, funk, and country.
Features
separate tone and volume controls for each pickup. tune-o-matic bridge. non-locking tuners.
Quality
Quality is good, could be better. Some frets *slightly* protruded. Nut looks like it could be cut deeper.
Value
For $600 you get the ULTIMATE classic rock and blues guitar, that can also do country, jazz, and funk. And it's made in America AND it's a Gibson. GO USA!
Manufacturer Support
not applicable.
The Wow Factor
Definitely a sexy guitar. The doublecut and body shape remind me of a sexy babe!

I would easily be happy with this for the rest of my life.
Sound
Amazing you can reach a ton of tones, great for blues, rock, reggae, funk, anything. It is able to grab the chord, and can has great action and tension. I love it.
Features
Only draw back for me is it's hard to play without a strap while sitting, it's off balance.
Ease of Use
Amazingly easy to get anything out want out of this guitar.
Quality
Durable, looks really good, everything is amazing.
Value
Easily one of the best guitars I have ever played I got it for cheap tooo, only $609.52
Manufacturer Support
Only problem is the back humbucker came backwards but I easily fixed that.
The Wow Factor
I would have sex with it!

"Great sound."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
My brother seems to like it. So its fitted the bill nicely.
Sound
I bought this for my brother, and tried out about 8 guitars before being handed this one. The tone!!!! The P90's were fantastic and sounded great, even against humbuckers. He likes his older style rock and new this would suit him perfectly. I was actually tempted to keep this for myself.
Features
I liked the P90's, the rest is pretty standard Gibson fare. The faded finish and the color (cherry) didn't exactly win me (or my brother) over to begin with. But at half the cost of a Les Paul Studio, you can't complain.
Ease of Use
Since when are quality instruments hard to use?
Quality
The finish is meant to wear, and is one of the prime reasons it is a cheap Les Paul. As with all Les Pauls I've ever seen they have plastic tuner heads. But this seems like a solid hard working guitar.
Value
I have to say that to get a Les Paul for so little (especially when compared to Aussie prices) this is nothing short of exceptional value.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with, as no problems.
The Wow Factor
Like I mentioned before, I was tempted to keep this one for myself.

"good bang for buck!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I really like the playability of this guitar.not quite to the level of my L.P. Custom but this is very comfortable to play.the only thing that could be better maybe is the tuners
Sound
wide range of sounds possible with separate tone and volume controls.not an overly twangy single coil sound.[thats a good thing]
Features
not alot of features to speak of but what is there is very good quality and funtionable
Quality
good workmanship but always room for improvement
Value
for the price a "real" Gibson not that Epiphone stuff
Manufacturer Support
havent needed any in the three years I have played this guitar
The Wow Factor
it has a unique feel to it.looks like vintage out of the box

"Naked Les Paul is the ultimate humbucker platform (just add top of the line pickups, sell these on ebay, and gloat at the tone y"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Naked tone guitars age well and these axes are built for playing. This is the ultimate platform for a player. I would say a poser as well as I like the look of a guitar that someone has spent a lot of time playing. Your call. Pay 3 or 4 times as much for the same tone on a guitar you are going to worry about every scratch or buy a players guitar and gloat the tone you are pumping out every time you plug it in.
Sound
I played 4 of them and picked the one I felt played the best for me. I put burst buckers in on the spot and for about a third the cost I have the tone and playability of a 57 LP. I am 80% stratocaster but I record and you have to have this tone and sustain. Actually I think I am falling to 60 something percent on the strats since I bought my JVM. A Marshall and a LP is a marriage that will never be broken!
Features
The hotter pickups are to me a must and really the only thing that these Korean made LP's are missing. So for about 200 in pick ups that you turn around and get 125 back off eBay for the new ones you sell back you have a LP that will age better and sound as good as the top of the line LP.
Ease of Use
I grew up on a strat so playing a LP is like cheating! It plays so easy and give you this amazing sustain and tone. I am prone to long jams when I start exploring my Marshall. This combo with the burst buckers is so classic to so many recordings that you have these epiphanies.
Quality
Solid but I think you will be blown away by the upgrade to better pickups.
Value
Probably the best value anywhere! Hey if you are a poser you need to spend 3 grand.
Manufacturer Support
Gibson is never going away. Easy to service yourself and I put the pickup on in under an hour myself.
The Wow Factor
The naked tone thing is a well known. If you want to take it up a notch drop in the better pickups you now have the best humbucker platform that exists!

Gibson Faded Double Cut Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Purchaser zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
for what it is it's an excellent instrument. i'm no expert but i knew what i wanted and the faded dc was it, it plays well and does it's job. that's what a guitar should be.
Sound
every guitar's a little different but you can't really go wrong with a gibson.
Features
it has what it needs, nothing fancy.
Quality
in all honesty it's a cheap guitar, the body's a piece of wood stamped out in the lp shape, the fretboard isn't flush with the neck, and the worn finish doesn't look worn, just cheap.
Value
i had a lot of money to spend but i decided on the faded dc because it works just fine. a hard case would be appreciated.
Manufacturer Support
i'd imagine it'd be good
The Wow Factor
if you're looking for something flashy this isn't the guitar for you. there are better looking guitars out there.

I honestly am shopcked that they have guitars like this for so little price. They must buy wholesale or something...
Sound
I've heard this guitar before, sounds great.
Features
Two pickups, each with its own volume & tone? I'm not used to that from Fender...
Quality
I've heard many good things about the quality, aside fro people cutting themselves on the fret ends...
Value
For under $700, it seems like an awesome deal...
Manufacturer Support
I'd expect it to be good, after all, it is a Les Paul by Gibson...
The Wow Factor
Perhaps my favorite guitar in terms of actual looks, in fact, I'm sure it is. Hands down!

Gibson Faded Double Cut Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I've owned many guitars and this one is my favorite. Very responsive mellow tones with lot of bite when you crank it. I set out to buy an american strat that day and after playing about ten of them I saw this one, pluged it in and fell in love. Highly recommend this gem.
Features
The only thing I did'nt like is the fact it came in a git bag. A guitar like this deserves a hard shell case.
Ease of Use
Sounds great, turn it up.

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I saw Keith Richards live with the Rolling Stones playing one, and I was immediately intoxicated by th amazing tone of the instrument, Then when I played one, I understood why...
Sound
Humbucking pickups
Features
Ease of neck, and not too heavy, pefect balance, nice full tone
Quality
Very well made. head seems a little fragile, keep a telecaster as a backup,as it it virtually indestructable, and doesn't go out of tune
Manufacturer Support
Hvae been able to get Gibson pikups for other repair projects which worked out well
The Wow Factor
Avery good addition to an arsenal of guitars for exceptional tone and playability
