I was looking at the SG Standard and the SG Standard HP. It came down to whether it was worth basically $350 more for the HP package and the added goodies that come with it. Here is the summary of the differences: 1. HP option comes with an aluminum hard shell case vs. gig bag. This is a SERIOUS case. Go to YouTube and there is a video where a guy runs over it to show how tough it is. I would end up getting a HSC for my axe as I like max protection when transporting it so I factored that into my total cost to purchase the two models. You can find some of these case out on various sites for $200+ and IMHO, it's well worth it. 2. Adjustable titanium nut rather than Graph Tech. Time will tell how this works out but I don't think it will need to be replaced anytime soon, I mean it is titanium. 3. G-Force tuning system. This is like discussing politics and there is much discussion about it. I find it easy to use and if I don't want to use it, I don't have to. I like metal tuning keys, just a preference. I do like the tuning system as I can easily change to an alternate tuning with a couple of button presses, call me lazy, but I like it. 4. Upgraded volume and tone knobs. I don't know how value this adds. I did notice them when I picked it up and reached for the knobs, they are cool. 5. Upgraded toggle switch. Again, don't know how much value is in something that I don't flip all the time, but it's there and it is quieter as advertised. The regular one never bothered me. 6. Same tune-o-matic bridge but with titanium saddles. There might be some other things that are different, but these are the major ones that I can identify. Is it worth $350 more for the extra options? To me it is, but everyone has a budget they are trying to hit and personal preferences and what those preferences are worth. I'm very pleased with my purchase. zZounds shipped when they said they would and the guitar came setup and ready to play. I have no complaints and would buy again from zZounds.

Musical Background:

I've played on and off for 30 years and do like Gibson guitars. I have big hands so the slim taper neck is something I prefer.

Musical Style:

Rock-n-Roll!!! Metal, blues

Excellent guitar in every way. New aluminum case is heavy though. But very nice. Still getting used to the G Force tuners pretty easy tp operate. Just follow instructional manual or go to youtube. Wood grain under cherry red finish is amazing. Very high quality made product.

Musical Style:

Rock, metal, blues
