I've owned many Les Pauls, an ES 347, and two Howard Roberts Fusions, and this ES 235 is all that combined and more! Great finish, mine is cherry satin, and there is nice figuring in the wood grain throughout. It has an antique vibe to it! Playability is very comfortable to me. Being 56 years old, I've got some arthritis in my first finger on my left hand, and some necks made it worse, but I can play this guitar with ease! I can play an F chord at the first fret again, and I can play better than a few years ago! I love this guitar! Pickups are a perfect fit too! Great tone! A great deal about the same price as a Les Paul Studio! A win for Gibson and me!

These will be classic one day. So glad I took a chance on a brand new model. 175s were always too big for me, but man I love that tone, with the vol rolled back, a set of good flatwounds - this thing is a funk blues jazz machine. The Satin finish is fragile, the tone makes up for it. Neck and frets are really nice off the plek machine at the factory. Ended up sanding the satin back on the neck with a few passes of medium grit sandpaper, and it plays like a million bucks.

This was my first real Gibson and I love it. I play it everyday. Sounds great. Neck is thicker than I was used to but it was easy to get used to. The Memphis Tone Circuit is great. The walnut looks great just enough grain coming through. Love it. Would highly recommend it.
