For those looking for a versatile overdrive/clean boost it would be hard to suggest a better one than this 4 On The Floor from Genzler. I play a Genzler Magellan 350 head which does not have the overdrive channel of it's more powerful 800w brother. The 4 On The Floor is like adding a more versatile version of that channel to my head and it would do the same with many others.There are four levels of drive or "gears" based on popular bass amp circuits each very usable and with no added noise. The differences between each are subtle but there. 1st Gear adds the least amount of drive but also adds a significant amount of harmonics and texture to liven up fingerstyle play or add an edge to pick play. The next three gears add progressively more drive, harmonics, and compression. 3rd Gear is where the drive impact becomes most noticeable and 4th Gear can even be driven into a fairly high amount of distortion with high gain and overdrive volume settings.The pedal also allows you to blend a clean signal with the drive volume and HPF and LPF help to further tailor the tone of the drive signal. I'm not one to use a lot of overdrive or distortion and this pedal is perfect for adding just that little bit of warmth, grit, and edge we love to get from well known tube heads. If there's no need for any overdrive at all it can act as a clean boost as well. It's very touch sensitive and responsive to adjustments in drive and clean volume.I can't say enough good things about the Genzler amp and Bass Array speakers I play and the personalized service given on forums by Jeff Genzler and Andy Field. They are active members on a daily basis fielding question and concerns helping their users to get the most benefit from their Genzler gear. The 4 On The Floor is just another of the top quality products they provide to help enjoy our gear and work as bassists even more. I highly recommend this pedal. It's a great value.
