My intent was not so much for transporting my mandolin as it was to have a protective case while it was lying around the house (think of the general havoc instilled by two active two kids, two cats, and dog). It is more than adequate for my needs on that front. That said, it in my opinion is more than adequate to head back/forth to lessons and the occasion jam session. The inside is a soft black plush (which looks great with my black mandolin) and there is sufficient cubby space as well as zippered pockets for endless papers and general stuff.
