The PS-2 I purchases months ago has been an excellent and compelling piece of gear to harness and utilize the full capabilities of my Bogner Helios 100 watt and my Bogner XTC 3534 guitar amplifiers. By feeding these heads into the PS-2 I can completely harness the audio of these stellar amplifiers. I was speculating on the transparent aspect before purchasing, but it truly is minimal at such a low level that it's a mute point. I recommend buying a PS-2. I once owned a Fryette Pitbull Ultralead for 25 years and can vouch for the incredible durability of Fryette equipment. This PS-2 is a game changer. Putting time based effects after both the preamp and power amp stage the level control of effects a joy with a noise floor that is as quiet as any I've come across.

Fantastic unit! Paired it with my Helix stomp and my Mesa 4x12 OS cab and could not be happier. My Duncan powerstage 170, while it is also an excellent piece of gear, simply feels like a toy in comparison to this. Took me all of 5 minutes (including changing cables) to decide the Duncan unit was going up for sale.I play in a very loud metal band and this thing is stupid loud (if you want it to be) and it truly adds that almost 3D nature of sound and that real chunky feeling in your picking hand that all the solid state power amps simply lack in my experience. I really have nothing bad to say about this, unfortunately I only use this thing as a power amp so I can only attest to what it does in that department, it gets a 10/10 from me. Great quality from a great company.

I recently purchased this to replace my Boss Waza TAE Core after watching a video directly comparing the Boss to this Fryette and I was shocked how much better the Fryette sounded. So much more top end clarity. The Boss sucks out specific high frequencies to the point it almost makes it sound nasally? This one does not. All the highs are maintained. The feel is maintained. I really like the presence and low end knobs to dial the sound in. They are subtle but helpful. I dont want to knock the Boss - it's a great unit and has wonderful live features and recording features - but there was just a loss of specific frequencies I couldn't deal with, especially on neck humbucker guitars. I spent SO much time adjusting my 335s neck humbucker height and pole piece height because there just wasn't any clarity - switching to the Fryette made me realize it wasn't the pickup, it was the Boss. The Fryette is the most truly transparent attenuator Ive used (Boss TAE Core, Tone King Ironman II, Weber minimass). I guess there's something to it being real tubes. Its also built like a tank. I use this with my Marshall JTM Studio combo and I can dime jumped channels and play at apartment appropriate volumes whereas without the attenuator the amp is over 110dB. I like how there are multiple ohm options. Increasing wattage is a cool feature too. Ive also used this to increase stage volume of a small 5 watt tube amp with great success. Overall fantastic attenuation. If you need more recording features the new Torpedo may be more up your alley but if you just need a killer attenuator, give this one a look.

wow< I haven't played on my Bugera 6262 120 watt tube head for ages. its just to loud for regular at home volume levels, until you enter the Freyette PS2. it took me a while to connect everything correctly. I finally got my modulation effects hooked up through the PS2's loop and I have my foot controller for the amp controlling my channel switching. can't forget the boost/overdrive pedals in front of the amp. all this at normal bedrooms levels? yeah my Bugera 5252 head sounds as glorious as you. can imagine (5150 tones all day long). Freyette is the real deal, im a fanboy for life now. I need a new Pitbull Ultra Lead next.
