Since I got the IR-X this is the happiest I’ve been with my tone in a long time. It’s extremely easy to dial in a good tone and works great in a lot of different applications. Really versatile too. It can cover just about any genre. I even use the Plexi channel for worship on Sundays and it sounds and feels amazing. The two applications I use it most are direct in and into the effects return of a Bad Cat Cub III30. It turns the Bad Cat into a fire breathing modded Plexi. Sound amazing! This is the perfect bridge of analog and digital imo. Love that it has midi too. Makes it easy to change channels with my Voodoo Lab PX-8. My only nitpick is I wish the knobs were a little harder to turn and maybe round. They seem to get bumped easy, especially when transferring in my pedaltrain soft case.

It took me about 15 minutes to unbox, download the software and start playing. Of course tweaking takes some time. I think it's geared more towards guitarists that would be using it in FOH applications but I'm using it as a preamp in the loop of a multi effects system in stereo with two tube amps and I'll be using it for recording. It acels at glassy tones and pretty much nails Plexi and modded Marshall tones. I prefer channel 1 since I'm getting some overdrive from the effects unit as well. Rolling the volume back on the guitar cleans up great giving beautiful cleans. Channel 2 gets into serious saturation with the turn of the gain control but you'll need a gate if you're getting really heavy. As with most modern effects you'll want to connect to a computer to get the most out of it. All of the pre-loaded ir's are usable and realistic. Most importantly it's inspiring and keeps me reaching for the guitar. For me it's a keeper.
